Got Witcher 3 vibes from that. I'm not a fan of ancient Japanese stuff but it looks real fucking nice.

@IronGiant Surely that is a clear reverence to the imagery of many Chinese and Japanese films?

(I realise Hero is Chinese, quickest example I could find though).

It's one of the cheapest effects you can do, which is probably why so many do it. Also helps with the sense of motion. I'm a fan. MOAR LEAVES!
LOL fair enough, why not just do it in certain areas though? Most open world games tend to do it as if dust particles or leaves whirling around adds more realism. I do enjoy the particle effects in God of War though, MOAR of that please!!

This looks right up my street. I am intrigued to see how fluid it actually is when a player is pratting around trying to do a parry or dodge. I would also like to see how damage and stamina works, assuming it will have stamina.

I'm guessing it won't be as demanding as say Nioh.

I hope I'm wrong but the combat had a look of Assassins Creed "press button once and lots of stuff happens" style combat.

    But fuck it NIOH 2

I think you may be right. Still leaves swirling in the air, stabbing people through paper doors and straw hats. Looks lovely but movement animation seems very Sucker Punch i.e. a bit off.

True. It probably won't be as demanding as Nioh but it did look like there might be some timed dodges in there. Hard to say at this point as it could be a complicated system played by a skilled person or a simple system made to look stylish.

Either way, it will also depend on the world as open world fatigue is strong with me but if it the story has enough going on then I will get over that.

Says something when a game that looks so good is still only the third best samurai game announced at E3. I was genuinely excited by the gameplay shown though have doubts over combat - it's not From or Team Ninja.

I love the style and the idea of an open world samurai game, but am concerned about the slices of gameplay and story/dialogue shown here, looked uninspired and by the numbers to me. Could do with less aping Asscreed and Witcher imo.

Not too sold on the fighting. Completely sold on the locations.

The Last of Us 2 is rumoured to be delayed until Spring next year, meaning that Ghost of Tsushima will almost certainly be delayed until September/October 2020.

Bit of a shame, been looking forward to this one.

It's not a rumour, it has been officially delayed, the Last of Us 2 that is.

Pfft, minimum. My uncles, best mates cousin said he knows someone at Sony and they said its gonna be a ps5 launch window title.
  • Deleted user 30 October 2019 09:48:58
That is also rumoured by the way. But I didn't want to mention that one as I know you lot are such sticklers for journalistic integrity and credible sources of information.

Well I suppose having actual official information helps when we go the game shop and ask if the rumours are true that a particular game is being sold.

Itís never been given an official release window has it? Either that or it was so far away it fell straight back off my radar. Looks immense though.

Does anyone know how any of this is going to affect the release date of Disney Tsum Tsum Festival?

Hmmm. That trailer makes me think that the fiction and setting may be more important than the moment to moment gameplay (think RDR2 vs Spider-man as rough guidelines).
Will need to be in the right mood to play it if it's the former.

Impressive that you can get that from a cutscene trailer.
