    You can search for tournament's you've played in the filters. Means you don't have to search for a name more than once! :)

    45 million?

    Oh, it's on!

    I was going to have a go now but I can't play this handheld. I think it's awful. Doesn't even feel like 30fps to me. Will wait til I get the TV tonight.

    I tried it on the tv for the first time and can see it's smoother but I still prefer handheld mode.

    I can't play it in handheld now. Feels like it's in slow motion :(

    I've got a table guide open for Shaman and it says lighting up the letters that spell magic will activate the kickbacks on each of the gutters. Sounds easy on paper, but how do you pull that off safely without losing the ball in the gutter? I know you can activate the ball saver by sinking the ball in the centre hole 4 times, but that's not an easy task either.

    Also, I've been reading through the old 3DS Zen Pinball thread. Good memories! :D

    I became quite good at shaman back on the 3ds. I've had some good scores on it. I've not played it in around 3-4 years though. I've rebought that pack and will have another do at it.

    I do miss the 3D visuals in the 3DS game. It really helps you read the tables better. I do miss that.

    I just hit 40 million again in the tournament. I managed to win my first Medium Joust Tournament and complete the Seige, but got unlucky with the final ball. I was playing with the vertical display and detached Joy Con. It hold ups really well, but I did notice some slight input lag. Especially with the right analog stick. Hopefully the patch isn't too far off!

    It's still a great experience though. It shows of the Switch amazingly well. Especially for folk like me who don't have fancy TVs or Monitors that can be flipped on their side.

    Just hit 100 mil on a Sorcerers lair tourney to take top spot. Time to have another go at this one. Fingers are killing now though. Proper claw hands now hahaha.

    Nice one! Did you end up doing that crazy multiball challenge? That's where I got the ridiculous bonus scores.

    @DangerousDave_87

    Yeah I did a mode where I had to guide whisper home and then immediately after it was a multi ball game and I had to destroy spirits. Each one gave me a jackpot which was at 4mil and I ended up getting around 60 mil in total for that mode.

    I'll have another couple of do's at Excalibur later and then play some tables I've not attempted yet. Mainly castlestorm, AvsP and ET.

    If you set a personal high score in a tournament, will it still count as standard high score in the mode you're playing?

    Nope which is a bit shit. My sorcerers lair score for single player isn't the 100 mil I got in the tourney :(

    That sucks. Good to know, though! It won't so me playing tournaments. Just ill be a bit mindful of what I'm doing.

    Had a terrible night on it last night. Well Excalibur anyway. I couldn't seem to get over 12 mil. I'd consistently lose the first ball with around 900k scored. Just couldn't get my aim right for any ramps, duels were failed quickly and joust I kept failing on the last novice one. Sodded it off as a bad idea after around 10 goes.

    No one else finding the separated controllers laggy then? Do they just need a charge?

    What's the best pack to buy?

    I've not bought any yet and it's hard to find individual reviews.

    Is there a way to demo the tables before purchasing?

    @DaM I had this experience, though mostly with the right analog stick when starting with a new ball. The buttons may have felt ever so slightly out of sync, but I adapted quite quickly.

    They are apparently working in a patch to bring portable mode up to 60fps and docked up to 1080p. That might solve the input lag issue.

    @Rhaegyr Get the medieval pack. It contains Excalibur and Epic Quest, which are both great.

    I just hit 133 million on a 'casual' run on Sorcerers Lair. As we discussed, its all about getting that midnight madness multiball. Even with minimal obsidian the bonuses are huge. If I'd not failed 3 of the challenges that reward obsidian ( Iwas distracted!) I could have seen two or three times that score.

    Good fun, though! Probably the least frustrating table in the game.
  • Deleted user 18 December 2017 19:18:18
    @DangerousDave_87

    Yeah it is good fun and relatively stress free. I'll be playing some more of it later as I've a score of 168 mil to beat from someone else. I'll only spend an hour on it though as I'm working through the challenges on each table.

    Just hit 296 million in Sorcerer's Lair - I can tell already it was a one in a million run :(

    Totally agree about the Midnight Madness multiball - I was on around 150 million with only my last ball - when the segment was over I'd made around 100 million!

    @Rhaegyr I've managed to get that multiball 3 times since setting my highscore. You'll definitely get some more decent runs in!

    Just broke into the top 15 on Excalibur with 78 million. I am starting to fall out of love with the table though. That Y-ramp is key to getting any kind of multiplier and it remains a risky shot, regardless of how much practice I put in.

    It definitely feels like a harder table than before. It's much easier to lose the ball, even with the shields up on the gutters. I'm a long way short of the 128 million I achieved on Zen Pinball 2.

    @DangerousDave_87

    I find the y ramp very easy to hit in docked mode but difficult in undocked mode.

    @rice_sandwich I seem to have little luck either way. I do have the seige challenged nailed though. You can get on that left flipper so easy from that Joust hole you get spat out from. Hold the top left flipper out until the ball has rolled off it. Then hold the right flipper up and watch your ball bounce off that and nicely into the bottom left flipper, ready for another shot at the castle.
