Is it just me or is anyone else totally fed up with Eurogamer and Digital Foundry’s obsession with resolution and frame rates? Don’t get me wrong, everyone likes good graphics and a smooth frame rate but in the last few years it seems some people have got OCD about it all. There’s article after article comparing how games look on the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X compared to the standard consoles and I really couldn’t give a f**k. I’d choose gameplay over graphics every time and it seems like a lot of people have forgotten that and got some kind of obsession about resolution/frame rate. It just feels like Eurogamer staff could spend their time on far more interesting articles/previews/reviews rather than constantly firing out bland articles about Star Wars Battlefront 2 looking ever so slightly better on the Xbox One X compared to the PS4 Pro and Wolfenstein running at 58 FPS on the Xbone rather than 59 FPS on the PS4. I like your relaxed attitude towards apostrophes in thread names. -

If framerate and resolution is the absolute number one priority for some then that's their business I guess. Personally, as long as the framerate of any given game isn't crippling to the point it's practically unplayable then I'm not fussed. So no not fed up as I'm not interested.

Agreed. Just ignore Digital Foundry 's articles.

Although the comments section that follow DF's articles always provide a good laugh, if nothing else, as all the loons crawl out from under their respective rocks to 'battle it out'. -

This. Or get a smaller telly - I once played Tomb Raider on a 4" black and white portable telly, it looked amazing.

Yes there has and they're as ridiculous now as they were then. Only difference is most of today's gaming fanboys are, rather embarrassingly, adults.

I can see where you’re coming from to a certain extent and I pretty much avoid all digital foundry articles anyway but the point I’m trying to make is it leaves very little else to read on Eurogamer.

For example: This weekend alone 3 out of 4 articles have been about comparing game performance/framerate/resolution.
Maybe I’m just having a grumpy moment but it just hit me tonight just how many articles are now about game performance and I just feel like it’s click bait for fanboys and people who are OCD about games. I’d much rather read an article about the best upcoming games of 2018 or a retro review of a classic game. I just feel like Eurogamer’s standards have really dropped recently. -

Yeah now Sony is in last place it's all a load of shit. -
I only come here really to have the odd natter about gaming and to laugh at the comments section. Don't read many articles here, only occasionally visit other sites and have no interest in YouTube gaming celebrities. (After a recommendation I did watch a Jim Sterling video once. Thought he was a miserable fat git who actually doesn't enjoy playing video games and so never bothered again).
I'm guess I'm what you might call a "casual gamer", if there is such a thing.

Those pillocks on the front page are all as bad as each other. Like an elderly person who has their car keys taken off of them because they're no longer safe behind the wheel, those cretins shouldn't be allowed near a games console of any type for danger of infecting it with their idiocy. -

Heh console gamers, graphics don't matter until the next shiny shiny machine. Fucking PC graphic whores..... -
I'm sure a similar discussion was had at the start of the base console's launch. -

Registered 16 years agoThis is why only Nintendo has the True and Honest fun games. Miyamoto-san told me that the next Mario is going to run at a resolution of 2x2, with one pixel each for Mario, Luigi, Peach and Bowser. Toad can fuck off. -
Who are Nintendo and who is this Miyamato character you speak of? He sounds like a hoot! -

Registered 20 years agoThere's no actually new consoles out to talk about, no big indy game to fap about, so at the moment it's all about the increased frame rates these new consoles can do.
I'm just pissed off they haven't stopped the bastard things tearing from what I've seen. I guess I wasn't going to buy one anyway, or whatever, but you know. -

There isn’t anything really wrong with digital foundry, they just talk about something within the industry that means a lot to some people. Just that it’s readers take it waaaay to seriously. But sometimes I find it interesting, but it’s not my cup of tea to be honest.
One issue I do have is the industry pandering to that crowd, don’t think Sony or Microsoft would have made the pro and Scorpio if it weren’t for the loud and vocal people that obsess over this stuff. Weirdly the same people that want more power are the first to moan that the games they play are full of loot boxes.
