My heavy rain ending was pretty bleak. Everyone had an unhappy ending.

    Darksiders 2
sacrifice all the other nephilim and yourself in order to redeem your Brother, War, and restore humanity.
War has already proven his innocence (he was framed by the charred council) only to restore humanity to a crap sack world already swarming with demons as a result of the premature apocalypse - that’s gonna end well...

    Legacy of Kain

Choose to kill yourself, wiping out the vampire race in the process in order to restore balance to Nosgoth or abrogate your responsibilities as scion of balance and let the world crumble - as the later games make clear vampires were the intended guardians of the pillars and half the reason that the world has gone to shit is that their human replacements were corruptible.

Your wife sound like a good laugh, you should casually mention to her that there's a new PTA being formed called NAMBLA and enquire if she's interested in joining.

    She is very funny.
Now is that the North American Man Boy love association or the North American Marlon Brando lookalike association?

They don't like getting mixed up.

I mean one of the groups walks around doing funny voices due to balls in their mouth, and the other is the North American Man Boy Love Association.

Little Red Lie is probably the bleakest I've played. Though I've not finished it because it's so bleak. Maybe they all have a big party in the end.

Basically, Time Travel is a bitch.

    Bastion

You traipse around an apocolyptic wasteland full of nostalgia for a world the player never even seen. The entire point is to get a time machine working that can rewind time to before people in this world made a mistake that led into the apocalypse.
Eventually it turns out rewinding time just allows people to make the same mistake and New Game+ just ends you up, back where you started, solving nothing.
Only other option is to turn the teleporter into a flying house, sail away and just accept you'll never manage to save the world that was.

    Sexy Brutale

You're a priest walking around in a magnificent casino, stopping murders. You have a magical watch to help you rewind time if you fail to prevent a murder.

Turns out you're stuck in your own self-loathing, repeating nightmare. All the murdered guests are your friends and you used to be the casino owner... before you torched the place down in an insurance scheme, but with your friends accidentally stuck inside. The casino you're in is a psychic representation of the past and you will never be able to save your friends. You already killed them in much more tragic, but petty manner and all of it is a construct to torture yourself with their loss and your guilt and grief.

    Undertale

Especially after trying the good ending first and befriending everyone, which makes the game seem camp, twee and cheerful.
There's this really dopey, dumpy, nihilistic, but good humoured skeleton in the game that wants to befriend you. Him acting like nothing matters is kind of a drag, but he's a good guy.

If after the good ending you're still bored and want to see what the bad ending's like, you basically get to kill your friends this time around.

The WTF moment comes when some of those old friends know what you're doing. Restarting the game for a second playthrough, is basically time travel for them. There are more characters than you, who can also play with time, and they've been doing that for so long that they've grown cold and soulless by the constant repeats. They want new thrills, want to be entertained... just like you and your second playthrough, where you're now just killing everyone. Couldn't leave it well enough alone and grant your friends their happy ending in the last playthrough.

The dumpy, nihilistic skeleton is immune to it and he remembers you. The reason he is so nihilistic, is because he realizes the world he lives in is just a game to you and that all his happiness can be taken away from him by a single press of the "restart game" button.
