It's not unreasonable to expect people working in a game shop to know about games. And yes, they should have known about the deal that was on that day, although that's the manager's fault. |
I think I know why GAME aren't doing so well • Page 2

Registered 11 years agoThat board thing probably pops up with loads of different deals (or ‘deals’) every day and it’s on the other side of the shop window where they work so they can’t see it.
Just saying most people I worked with are good honest folks and there’s no need to be cuntish to staff.
But please, be cuntish to management. They don’t give a fuck but selling warranties -

Yes not knowing what daily promotions your dealing with in your own store is perfectly acceptable. And if they're worried they're losing money then why do the promotion in the first place? Utterly limp excuse for piss poor customer service on your part. (Of course they always remember to try and sell pointless "disc protection").
You made that out to be a lot lot worse than it was. So they didn’t know a one day deal because their manager didn’t let them know? Maybe the manager didn’t want to shout that deal from the rooftops because they probably made next to no money from it or possibly even lost money
I used to work in GAME and I fucking hated customers come in and expect us to know everything about everything and when we didn’t know they look at you as if your an absolute moron with their cunt smug faces.
The fact that GAME actually employ people with an attitude like yours is as much a reason as any why they're in such a mess. If they actually employed GOOD staff who gave a shit they might actually get somewhere. But hey, who gives a toss if the business goes under as long as you get to stick it to "cunt smug customers", eh? Bravo.
(I am actually quite stunned that you tried to turn this level of incompetence around and make it my fault.)

Registered 15 years agoGAME is hanging on as a specialist retailer in venues that are far too expensive in terms of staffing and rental for the market they can capture. Large specialist shops work in highly central locations like London but nationwide, no. -
Also specialist being the operative word. If the staff know fuck all about the offers on and the products they are selling, what exactly is the point? -

Registered 11 years agoNothing wrong with my attitude, just saying you can’t expect to walk into any shop and expect perfect customer service. Fair enough if the shop assistant is a gormless douche but most of the time they are not. They are human. Young folk who do not live to work for GAME or wherever. It’s a low paying job, expectations should be mid to low... imo.
I wasn’t aiming the smug cunt customer at you by the way, just went to a dark place a littlepast experiences etc

Absolutely, although I find the story of most Games is about retail. Graphically I wasn't impressed by the last one at first but when I zoomed in (by putting my head really close to something) it was actually really detailed. The manager asked me to leave then as he said I was scaring the staff.
Some games are poor in terms of graphic design and story. As long as you enjoy it then there's nothing wrong. -

Christ, ShopTo are awful. Always been a bit worried about using them after their big CC leak a few years ago, but their website is still god-awful. Easier to buy things from them via their eBay store so at least then eBay and PayPal can step in if they mess things up (which they did, rather majorly, with a PS4 order last year).
Ordered an Xbox one s AC origins bundle at shopto on 24th Nov took my money still not dispatched. Wish I'd have ordered from game. -
I worked in retail for a number of years at Music Zone, then Fopp. Customers are a bunch of cunts to be fair. You can't expect us to know everything that's going on, and again it's down to management to train the staff to know about what's going on. Plus I was what 19-23. I was more interested in selling stuff I was interested in, than knowing when the new Michael Bubble album is out. -

High street retail assistants are useless, dimwitted cunts who get paid exactly what they're worth.
Fuck all.

I’d never belittle anybody working in retail, at least they are earning a living and contributing -

I was actually making a point. You, and the chap above, obviously think it's okay to call costumers who just want to do a bit of shopping and receive good service by people who are paid to provide such a service "cunts", but be damned anyone who throws such an attitude back in your face.

Hypocrites. People like you two who work/have worked in retail are the real problem with your piss poor attitude, not the customers.

Registered 15 years agoMy local GAME had a folder the Manager printed out every morning with all the deals and offers for that day, so even the most clueless of staff could simply flick through if a customer mentioned an offer they were unaware of. -

Well GAME are going down the toilet because it's run by useless cunts. Figures they'd employ useless cunts for staff to reflect their business.

Because people would lose their jobs, and having a visible high street store presence is useful for certain consumers (non gamers buying presents etc)?
Why anyone would be sad to see these clowns close down is utterly baffling.
Bit harsh to damn them based on some miscommunication, but to each their own. -
Even non gamers know how to use amazon though, in the vast majority I'd have thought. You're just left with the dotty old grandmas who go into town using their bus pass, and these days half of them are on facebook like the rest of us slags.
