Well not yet. I read today that mining of actual bitcoin should continue until 2040, and then the miners will only earn transaction fees, which won't be viable. But the complexity of mining by that point could reach the stage of needing a power source the size of the sun to mine the last block, such will be the difficulty.
Great! So the miners are gonna snap up all the Dyson Spheres, typical.

God, I'm utterly fcking rubbish at investing in this shit. Been hesitating for days on buying Digibyte and Tron and they both just soared over 10%.
I keep hesitating and missing out then get scared to chase.
I imagine I'll now jump in, full of FOMO and they the dip will come.
    /Sigh.

Now is not the time for investing, crypto is in pure parabolic pump and dump mode. If anyone is putting money in to these shitcoins I hope they plan on getting out in profit.

If and when the next big parabolic bull run happens in a few years time there'll be a whole new wave of altcoins people will be FOMO'ing in to and most of today's coins will be forgotten about, so be careful what you leave your money in.

Quite a dump overnight, glad I didn't do any chasing. Still sitting on only CHZ, ADA and XLM. The latter is down now but other two well in profit.
See if I can catch some pump action :)

Nearly 10x my money on Harmony, so I'm doing grand.

If I had ADA on an exchange I probably would have moved it at ATH, but didn't as is I'm holding and staking off an exchange, probably for the rest of the year at least.

Saw Etherium had gone down to 1150 vs GBP but i had set a limit order for 1050 so didn't bite. Probably miss out on this dip, but i had a plan and i'm sticking to it.

Coinbase lists on the stock market tomorrow and Bitcoin is pumping upwards, I'm leaning towards this being a sign that a major top for Bitcoin will happen soon rather than it being a catalyst for more crazy highs.

Lines up with some amateur TA I've done, but that could be my own biases looking for doom and gloom everywhere.

Ok, lets go (pardon the pun) on Bitcoin:

Its not gold, it doesn't have any fundamental value (other currencies are backed by countries).

Decentralised clearing of cash transactions has no space in the current financial system (governments and regulators want to track financial transfers) meaning the adoption will always be a target for regulation.

Why do you need anonymous clearing of funds for anything but 1% of transactions.

Look at its rate of growth, it is no more useful than any other currency and nothing to back that growth apart from the Blockchain element. If this was a biotech stock it would have to have discovered a cure for all cancers.

Im not an expert on blockchain and I think the technology has promise, I just think this is a bubble.
It's quite funny reading these old comments. Feels like the old "Internet shopping will never catch on" comments from the 90s

The volatility and susceptibility to manipulation and have always made me wary of it as a long term investment.

The gambler in me is envious of cashing in on the big gains but I find the "science" behind predictions a little dubious.

Stupidly, I purchased some $RIOT – a whole fucking business doing bitcoin mining / selling servers for mining – hoping that a stock might smooth over the volatility of the coins itself. Nope. I had brief gains yesterday, and thought their recent purchase of a data-centre and the Coinbase IPO might have sent things northward. Nah.

That coinbase IPO seemed to screw the entire market yesterday, all crypto facing companies were down.

I think everything that was said still holds true. Outside of financial speculation or money laundering I've yet to see any use for crypto.

Using it to pay for Teslas (so that Elon can evade tax) has proven to be a very silly idea. It's about as secure as e-commerce in the 90's. People losing their money after entering the wrong wallet ID etc. PLUS that the volatility of the "currency" is so steep that you might overpay by 15% from one day to the next.

That's 10+ years after it was said to be the new internet currency.

And don't get me started on crypto art...

It's a ponzi scheme. But then a lot of speculative investments are.

It's pretty harmless to me though. If people want to bid up digital tokens then probably the most they'll lose is their spare cash.

The UK housing ponzi scheme is much much worse, because people actually need places to live.

This fund just launched today and I've thrown some money in for the potential black swan upside.

IPO offering was 5p a share, it launched at 8p and has dropped down to 4.5p which means I've been able to pick things up cheaper than IPO offering which is nice.

That's no different to entering the wrong bank details when transferring money though, is it?

    TO THE MOON!

Wish I'd never sold my Doge that I'd mined for the lols for something silly like £1. Honestly never thought I'd see the day it would be worth anything.

Bought 4000 doge last week for £200. Bought 4000 more today and cost me £1200

Insane considering there’s gonna be a floor at least double the current value.
