Howard the duck kills Thanos and then resurrects Peter Duncan's character from Flash Gordon. Post credits scene shows Brian Blessed eating a roast dinner and with a mouthful he bellows "Thanos is Aliveee?"

And if anyone clicks on that and complains things have been spoiled, it's your own damn fault for clicking it. -

It was good, overall. Way, way too busy and bloated. Which I guess was always going to be the case unless they killed off like half the cast in the first half an hour (spoilers: they don't do that). But knowing that it was done as intended, doesn't really make it better.
But yeah, it was good, in the same way that a lot of other Marvel movies are good. It looked great, there were some funny quips, and the battles have probably the largest scale I've ever seen in a movie. If you're fatigued about these kinds of movies though (as I am a bit, hence my slightly-less-than-enthusiastic praise), this isn't going to be the movie to get you back on the wagon.
(I'd write more spoiler-ey things, including a SHOCKING spoiler about Hawkeye. But I think the movie gets released like a day or two later in the rest of the world. Best give more people a chance to see it) -

Registered 17 years agoJustin got back from it. Will give a better review in the morning, but I’m with Mola on this one.
It was good. Best Avengers yet and very much in the Marvel template.
However it’s also clear I’m now getting OMF Syndrome (Onset Marvel Fatigue), and I’m not sure I can shake it off.
It follows the Marvel movie template to a T, and I’m just kinda tired now.
Thanos was well-fleshed out, mind.

Registered 17 years agoWell....
I’m off to see Rampage now. This film was rather good but still prefer Winter Soldier and Iron Man. Possibly even the original Avengers.
One post credit scene right at the end. Worth sticking around for imo. -

either through time travel via Ant-Man/Quantum Realm or the BARF device Tony demoed at the beginning of Civil War, they go back to the events of the first Avengers film to try to unravel what happened and undo the snap. This is backed up by on-set shots of Avengers 4 shows several of the cast in their original Avengers 1 outfits alongside Ant-Man/Tony in a SHIELD outfit etc. -

On the plus side, you have enough free time to throw it on watching and re-watching Thor: Ragnarok in order to deconstruct it, so it must have done something right. Movie is much better than 90% of the other Marvel movies.
Ragnarok... works less and less on repeat viewings as the humour doesn't continually hold up

Registered 20 years agoJust saw it yesterday... I liked it. Very busy, but it comes together quite nice. Thanos is indeed amazing.
It basically is a Thor/Ironman movie. Those two do most of the work. The power level of Thor is incredible in this movie.
Didn't like Hulk being beaten up so easily by Thanos. Based on the Marvel comics, Hulk should be much much stronger. I guess they wanted to make a point. I also didn't really like the Hulk sulking for being beaten, it should only make him more angry and stronger. But ok... MCU is not a really big fan of Hulk so I guess it fits in. Then again they said the next Infinity War will focus on the Hulk. I guess they are setting him up for something big.
Starlord was a bit wasted in this movie. He is just comic relief.

Saw this last night. It doesn’t sag in the middle like the other Avengers movies. It really manages to keep it full throttle without being tiresome. Really impressed.
Will it change anybody's mind if they're already bored of the franchise? Doubtful, but then if you pay money to go watch a movie franchise you're tired of then that's on you.
It very much felt like Marvel's Empire or Two Towers. A stunning action movie for me.
For those with little ones: I'm glad I didn't take the boy to this. Over 10s only IMO. YMMV. -

Registered 11 years agoTextbook Marvel. I enjoyed Thanos and the Guardians gave me a good chuckle as usual but overall the found it largely by the numbers and will likely forget most of it in the coming weeks. Guardians 2 and Ragnorok still at the top of the pile for me. -

Doesn't take a lot to deconstruct it though, it's all fairly obvious stuff.
I understand why people like it, I just think you're all wrong.

One thing I dont get, if the infinity stones are so powerful surely Thanos can provide for everyone? -

The only way that would work is to alter the reality of each planet in the galaxy, and the film basically shows that the reality stone isn't really permanent - it only works when the wielder is present (look at how Thanos immobilised Drax and Mantis on Knowhere, and how they reformed after he'd left).

It's overly long and saggy. Splitting the team up because of Raccoon being moody is a fault, and the focus on Yondu too. It separates the film into 3 different foci and it hurts it overall.
GotG is really snappy by comparison. I think it's a much better film.
As I said a page or so ago I put GotG2 and Ragnarok in the bottom tier with Dark World and Incredible Hulk, just for different reasons.
