How are people playing old consoles on wall mounted flat screens?

Are you having your flat screen TV far enough from the wall to allow the scart lead to push out? Are you using some sort of converter? My 4k TV has a scart slot but nothing can fit in it. I saw some right angle connectors in Amazon a while back but they stuck out so far as to be pointless. The recent articles on retro consoles made me think that I need to get on the case and sort this out!

My amp converts component and s-video to HDMI.

You could get an XRBG mini and convert to HDMI. Can’t imagine how bad SCART stuff will look on a 4K screen.

I solved the issue by buying a decent 32” CRT off eBay for a fiver, though I appreciate not everyone has space.

Thanks all. Framemeister seemed to start at £500 so will look for something similar but cheaper!

Out of curiosity how much did they charge you to deliver the CRT?

Scart looks great on a set that has a decent scaler on the analog inputs

Just buy a CRT for retro gaming, luckily I still got mine but loads of good quality ones being sold cheap or given away if you can pick it up.

@curtlikesmeat I picked it up, it weighs an absurd amount, would cost a fortune to post. Just did a search in a 20 mile radius. Had to get a couple of weightlifting friends to lug it up the stairs!

@elstoof that did sound very questionable when you put it like that! My wife’s best friend is the British gold medal holder for women’s olympic 58kg category, and her boyfriend is an army soldier and built like a tank. The TV is about 120kg, we tried getting it up and around the stairs but quickly realised it wasn’t happening so got them to do it.

120kg for a tv, Christ. We got some new cast iron radiators, 2 of them are massive bastards, 2 metres long and 135kg each. They were a cunt to getvup the stairs

On the impracticalities of CRT TVs, I have a diddy little game room for my retro needs and I actually feed all of my consoles through my old portable. Of course, it wouldn't work if I had it set up on the opposite side of the living room, but you know. Depending on your intended setup there are some relatively convenient ways of CRT gaming.

Everything looks great on it as well. Definitely preferable to feeding them through a 55" 4K TV. To be honest I'd probably consider emulation if that was my only option.
