Also finding this to be really good, as is a great world to explore and enough on the map to dip into or entice you to keep moving through the world.

Black Flag missions were awful, but I thoroughly enjoyed the world and all the pirating that it's my fave. It ruined AC for me as the sequels didn't have any pirating in. So for me this is a return to the series being different enough to be worth playing. Combat is very poor, weapons have no weight and staggers just frustrate. Parry is usually the best bit, but the reward is weak considering the risk of mistiming one and being staggered.

How far along are you? Did you get the special chain attack where he lies on top and just uses his dual blades to slash slash slash slash? Or the jump slow mo with bow and arrow - use a light bow, jump off somewhere high, aim, put 15 arrows in a high level bad guy and you'll take him out just as you land. Combat is the best of the series. I ran into a level 40 guy when I was 25. I had no chance of winning but the amount of dodging, charging, timing the attacks, it was intense. Fight was epic. I mean, it was a battle of endurance. If I had held out, could've beaten him after eventually. And during battle, when they taunt you as well, it's a good touch.

Egypt is beautiful. I thought I was near the end but I've got loads left yet and it's lovely as you end up in a new area and it's just so, new. I'm in a land now where it's all lush green, just, so much eye candy.

This game has everything for me, gameplay, story, graphics, controls and ost. They give you a giant map with lots of enemy camps and different ways to approach and stealthy kill. ♥️ This game.

I picked this up over Christmas.

It's very good so far, I'm about 25 hours in, I'd say, mostly spent my time exploring and cleaning up any side missions I come across, I've not progressed through the story too much just yet.

It seems like the perfect pick-up and play game, jump in for 10 minutes to clear some locations or spend a 5-hour gaming sessions doing missions, exploring and working through the map. It's great.

I do wish there was a bit more reason to explore some of the locations (even though they might be involved in the story later on), a couple of times I've entered a stunning location, had Senu locate the treasure, loot them and then it's complete.

I think the longevity will be limited, 70-80 hours gameplay and it'll feel like a grind to clear out those last locations, but for the £36 I paid, I'm very happy with the amount of content and entertainment so far.

One of the main issues I have is you are forced to do the Ďdogs bodyí side quests which range from passable to abysmal, because if you donít you wonít level up enough to be able to do the main quests. But because everything else is good, like the combat, visuals, setting etc, Iím 15 hours in and I will finish this.
Also I think they should stick with Egypt for a direct sequel next time.

First AC game I've managed to get beyond the first hour of since AC2. It's really good, absolutely love wandering around on my horse, setting him to auto drive and flying about as Senu!

Main issue, the writing is so wildly hit and miss, one minute you're talking to your son in a very touching/sad moment, then you are escorting an annoying woman around that her daddy treats "like a princess" and if you don't do what she wants she will "scream so the guards hear and beat you up". I mean REALLY? I expected this game to do better than that, there's no resolution to it either, just a bit of an odd sour taste.

Not feeling the modern day sections either, the banter between the two characters so far has been wince inducing to the point of not really wanting to touch those bits, thankfully these issues seem few and far between.

I've accumluated 85 hours on this so far and am 2 trophies away from the platinum.

I've done the main story and all the side quests and just need to finish the Cyrene arena and decipher the papyrus scrolls

Asolutely brilliant game and a shot in the arm for the AC series

I don't understand why nobody else is commenting on how broken this game is. Is there something wrong with my copy that isn't affecting everyone else?

I've had this happen numerous times (I just hovered there for about 45 seconds until I'd taken enough arrows to die).

Around half the 'get someone held captive out of a moving trailer' missions I've had to restart since as soon as I was carrying them I glitched out of the cart onto the road and they just hovered in mid air in the carried position and I couldn't do anything.

One mission where I had to steal a chariot by the time I got there the AI driver had clipped it through a wall and it couldn't be retrieved.

That and the AI is laughably bad. The number of people I've seen walking endlessly in a wall or guards that just go up and down ladders repeatedly without ever leaving them is just surreal.

I'm baffled as to how much praise this thing is getting and nobody seems to mention the fact that it's buggier than Skyrim.

I've played through the game after getting it for Christmas and never saw any bugs like that. The worst I saw was a floating rat, once.

@Zomoniac What platform are you playing on? I'm around 40-50 hours in now and I haven't experienced any of that, at all. In fact, it's the first AC game where I've yet to see any (major) bugs/glitches.

    I'm on a PS4 Pro.

Only amusing bug I saw in the hours I played it was a floating corpse following me around: a had impaled a soldier with a spear and after the animation finished the body stuck in the same position, slowly floating towards Bayek as I moved around the map for a few minutes

Eventually it just snapped out of it and ragdolled to the ground, but it was amusing

I'm on PS4 Pro, I've had the odd bug here and there but nothing that has ruined the game. I do agree that the AI can be a bit shoddy at times.

I've played this for hundreds of hours on PS4 Pro without a single glitch. It crashed once in the opening hours when I tried to look at the world map but it's worked perfectly since then.

Worst I've had is a random mission where I saved someone from a load of hippos, once I'd dealt with them the person I was helping stayed in a looping animation fighting off the now dead hippos.

I wandered off to do something else and when I went back it was fine.

One of the daily missions I got was to find a lost villager, but his corpse only was sitting about 20 meters away

Quest giver clearly wasn't looking too hard

Remarkably bug/glitch free for me, I think Zomaniac is just unlucky.

@Zomoniac I clocked up around 100 hours on XBO mk1 and never encountered any bugs.

You seem to have just drawn the short straw, unfortunately.

Of the things that did annoy me are that whenever I went for a swim, I'd end up being hit in the back by a guy with a boat. I get that it's the game's way of trying to reduce the frustration of swimming lobg distances by offering you a faster means of transport, but the system is so in your face and obnoxious about it that it's annoying.

My other disappointment is that after finishing the main story I still had a few regions that I hadn't even explored. But with the exception of the massive big tomb thingy in one of them, they were all entirely devoid of quests, locations of interest or anything. Just huge regions with literally zero content. Felt a little unfinished, considering how packed with stuff to do everything else in the game is.

I had an issue with one of those cart prisoner saving missions. I rescued him and he started spinning and slowly floated up and up, into the stratosphere so high until he disappeared altogether. Very weird but a bit amusing (xb1x)

I don't really understand how this can be held in such high regard? It's so generic.
I enjoyed playing a lot of it and the world is beautiful (though the game actually takes you through half of it, and lot of room is wasted as nothing but empty desert) but there's absolutely nothing memorable about any of it. It's still very much Assassin's Creed.
A few improvements over the past games in the series but it's still full of icon vomit, full of busy work, has pointless modern/future bits and the way this game wraps up it's own narrative is really poor (locked play areas, crap naval battles, forced to play secondary characters, and poor boss battles), especially how well the game was doing up until that point.

@Derblington You are correct good sir. Exactly my thoughts. Origins just shows up how bad they other AC games are. Never understood the popularity of them. That being said, I've seen enough to be encouraged that they could be further improvements in the series going forward. Will be interesting to see what Ubi do with Far Cry 5, their other map icon collectathon.

Even with the latest patch it still has the usually ubisoft jank (tm) nothing game breaking as its been a few patchs since 1.0.

One mission and manged to climb up and killed the target in the baths after the cutscene, the room was full of soldiers and couldn't climb to escape or open the door as needed to hide. But restarted and was after the assassination but no guards. You should be kill the target without starting a fight.

Actually agree with Derblington, the game is nice looking and enjoying most of the game but don't agree how highly regarded AC oranges is.
