Can anyone recommend any decent in-your-ear type phones for use with my pod?

They need to be in-your-ear style, otherwise they don't tend to stay in-my-ear. I'd like some quality sound and bass, but I'm not an audio whore so don't fancy spending £100 on a set.

I also plan on using my iPod whilst running, so a set that looked discrete but stayed on would be fantastic.

Have you got any model numbers? I remember browsing and seeing quite a wide range offered by sony.

Any recommended places to buy retail? I can't wait for an online order.

Yeah I've been using a version of these for the past 3-4 years and they are only now starting to give up the ghost! Great sound quality though...

I've got the Sennheiser mx500, mx 300 and the old and imho better m-X 5 and prefer the Sonys for sound - infinitely more comfortable as well.

I've been debating which earphones to get as well. The £25 Sony does look good, but the earphone shape is a bit odd, don't know whether it'll stay in or not.

I would recommend the £17 Sony, as I've had them before and they're pretty good, but they seem to break easily (in my experience). Maybe they're better quality now.

To play devils-advocaat (can't remember what it's nice with, but it is!) how about some that clip to your ear. Extremely comfortable, very responsive. got them on Nems recommendation, would never go back to in the ear stuff...

I bought a pair of those the other week. Got home shoved them in my walkman to be greeted with horrible tinny music (on tracks that had formerly sounded great on the bundled phones).

I was just a bit pissed at having spent £30 on a pair of what seemed like crap earphones, so threw them in the corner and forgot about them.

A few days later, I end up taking them into work so I can listen to crappy quality web radio stations, I decide to try an MP3 first and...fuck, the sound coming through the phones is great! Loads of bass and clear mid tones. So I try them in my walkman again and the same result, the music sounds ace.

Uh, so in summary, I second Ssue's recommendation of the Sony earphones, though they may sound a bit crap at first :-/

The sense aren't actually "in your ear" though are they.

    /slaps

    Sony's looking like a winner.

they have to be seated and sealed correctly in the ear or the low end disappears.

    The sonys am de best

I've had three sets, one got stolen, so I bought another, then picked up another set "just in case" when my local dixons closed down. They never fall out, they never distort, and the only problem I had was too much bass on a cheap mp3 player without EQ. They're ace.

Added bonus - they shut out a lot of noise, so buses and trains become 'slightly' more pleasant places to be...

Just had a play about and, yeah you're right. I can't have pushed them in far enough that first time.

You'd look twice as bad as those prats who wear bluetooth headsets ALL THE TIME though wouldn't you?

You mean you want earplug style phones?

    Why didn't you say?

I'd actually second the clip idea. I use some when I'm on the cross trainer and they're great.
Sorry, perhaps I didn't type "in-my-ear" enough in my initial post... ;)

No, because you've got one on each ear, no mouth piece, and they do look semi-cool. Plus they're a fuck-sight more comfortable than inner-ear one's. Plus no problems with them not being seated correctly. :D

The Shure type earbuds block out sound completley but the Sony ones don't - I can still hear the phone, people calling my name etc - a lot of the background noise is cut out tho.
