    I suppose if you have a pencil, a craft knife and some spare time, you only need to order one as a template.

    Or download the inevitable blue prints someone will drop onto reddit.

    Again I think the concept is really good, build stuff with your kids, do a little programming, learn and play, Iím all for it.

    Just donít make it out of regular cardboard, thereís no reason for it. Thereís a bunch of materials that are just as cheap, that you can stamp out of a board and bend just like cardboard.

    I read that Nintendo are putting the templates online anyway. Didn't read it first hand, though.

    I read that you just press a button in the app and five to seven minutes later Miyamoto-san parachutes into your garden clutching an armful of cardboard.

    Also he is nude.

    Cardboard isnít all the same. Some of itís pretty tough. It depends on the ply and density. And glue.

    I know about cardboard.

    Anyone dared, or is considering daring, to pre-order the robot backpack?

    I have a feeling that when reviewers have their greasy malformed hands on them, they'll go apeshit for it and the included robot-smashing-things-game and it will become stupidly had to get hold of.

    @nudistpete

    IMO the robot backpack is very much a limited VR experience without the immersion.

    Gone for the variety pack because looks like more fun.

    I'd say it looks better than VR as it's a completely physical experience. But then again I'm a VR luddite who doesn't "get" it. I love the idea of seeing what I'm doing on the TV and my motion is being limited physically by the backpack - so it's not another wii wheel-like experience.

    I have a feeling that the backpack is going to be amazing. But I'm not stumping up £70 to find out, I've gone for the variety pack!

    Looks like a single wall corrugated to my amateur eyes, perhaps a pro such as yourself can hazard a guess as to the gsm?

    To me it looks like the cardboard used in the wii u packaging.

    @nudistpete

    I used to have a rift, and i dont think this will come close to the first time i used the touch controllers and you lift your hand up and you can see fingers in front of you and make your thumb etc move by clicking buttons.

    That was cool.

    Honestly I'm more excited by Labo than VR. Maybe because Labo is fully tangible, I can imagine it easier.

    Whatever the reason, if somebody gave me the option of the all the Labo sets or a Vive, I'd take the Labo stuff.

    Sell the vive and buy 10 labos (labs?).

    Just out of interest, did you also buy a kinect a few years ago?

    I had PSVR and thought it was great initially but then I got to the point where I couldn't be arsed setting it up each time. Id probably get another in the future once they are wireless.

    Nah, Kinect didn't appeal to me.

    Honestly, most "gimmicks" haven't appealed to me. Motion controls are mostly a load of cock, and I've never had any extraneous peripherals.

    It's mostly the model building aspect that appeals to me here. I want a cardboard mini keyboard, dammit.

    I've got an Oculus DK2 somewhere in the loft, everything made me feel sick within about 10 minutes. This is much more my cup of tea :D

    VR is amazing technologically.. But, to me at least, it's an infrequent experience that should be confined to the arcade. I'd love to Mario Kart VR in an arcade before I die, but playing any game at length at home it's completely unappealing.

    Might seem strange because people have been talking about VR since 2012, but itís still early days for the technology.

    @elstoof Ok, £20 for the game (canít see it being a major game, so £20 sounds about right), and £50 for the cardboard and string😁

    2012? I remember not paying £5 to play on Virtuality back in the early 90's to play Mad Dog McRee for a much more sensible £1.

    Yep sold my psvr. Couldn't warrant 400 quid sitting in a cupboard not being used. Was awesome initially but the wow wears off.

    Now to get excited about some cardboard 😀
