So this has been a thing for some time, at least I noticed it somewhere around the new year. All of your lower case 'I'* characters in articles are somehow replaced with an 'l'. This doesn't usually carry over to the comments section or page titles on the browser tab, but I see it's an issue in the forums as well, because look at this entire post. So, what's the deal? Site-wide text compression algorithm that works better with two letters of the alphabet being the same? Does someone working on the site's code find typographical larceny tittling**? Is this a very long and drawn out 'no "i" in "wii"' joke? My curiosity and interest is piqued and I simply must know! Browsers tested: Chrome, IE *The letter after 'H', if you need a hint **(Yes,I had to Google it. The dot on a lower case I is called a 'tittle'. The more you know!) Your post is full of lower case letter 'i's from where I'm looking. -
I don't see your point -

Registered 5 years agoCan quite clearly see i in articles and forum posts. I'm guessing it's your own cleartype config doing it.

Registered 15 years agoWell, whatever it is, I've seen it happen across 3 PCs. Maybe it's a setting somewhere, but I doubt Cleartype has anything to do with it. Here's an image: https://imgur.com/a/81sf8
It's pretty weird.

Something's wrong with your font (display), clearly the i's aren't "replaced with l's", as they're shorter than the actual l's. Just look at "tittling" in your example.

Eagle-eyed. Can confirm this is the issue. I zoomed in the page and the i's resolved at higher point size. Funny thing is, setting it back to 100% after zooming in resolves the issue on the page in question. There's some funky stuff going on with how Windows is resolving the site's font.

Kudos also to, um, your-mother? -
FWIW, it took me quite a while to get used to how Windows 10 (and 8, to some extent) renders fonts, vs 7. Found 7 a lot clearer and less fuzzy tbh. Used to it now, mind. -

Try setting a different default font. Something seems not right with it.
This matter interested me too, so I took a closer look at that screenshot, and what I found curious was that your text seems to be coloured while mine's greyscale. I'm no expert on this, so I don't know why that is.

Are you using something like GDIPP or Mactype?
Or worse, linux.

I assume you're referring to the sub-pixel rendering shizzle. It's in your font config somewhere.

That isn't windows font rendering. RGB subpixel rendering is freetype, windows is greyscale. You can get things to use that rendering, but it's far from default.
