@Tomo lol, you literally just mentioned the two films I posted on the last page. Don't worry, they've been acknowledged 😀 The Running Man in particular is a film I could watch again and again. I even made a point of reading the original Stephen King short story it's based on. As for Sarah Jessica Parker, mentioned earlier on the page, to quote Family Guy, she looks like a foot. Also, to quote Family Guy again: "Roadhouse!" Edited by Pierre2k at 13:40:03 03-02-2018 |
What's the best action film ever made? • Page 6

Registered 14 years agoI think the weakest thing about The Running Man is the direction: Glaser really films it like a TV movie and it hurts it - the action scenes are pretty lame. If you'd had someone more capable at the helm... -

The best action film is 'The Rock' -

Registered 20 years agoThe running man is a guilty pleasure of mine, the direction as awkward in it can't stop it's cheesiness, and in that context the cheese actually makes it more pleasurable in turn.
The Rock is a good shout, but I'd be uncomfortable about it being officially the best anything being directed by Michael 'Armageddon, Pearl Harbour, Transformers' Bay. He's really blotted his copybook, that one. -

Jackie Chans Police Story is legendary, probably some the best ever stunt work ever put to camera, a statement that applies to many of Chans 1980's work. -

I quite like it, but The Abyss is definitely Cameron’s film most deserving of more love than it gets.

Raiders of the Lost Ark is the best ever imo. Such a fun film. Point Break would be my left field choice. -

Superb stunts (with no special effects used whatsoever) and an enjoyable serious story, while funny at times. Chan's magnum opus for sure. -

Nah, I dig Dredd more than the Raid (which is also good), but as a 2000ad reader in my youth, there's no competition. It totally nailed the character & world vibe.

Much preferred Dredd too. I can see the comparisons but there's a lot more of a difference. I also fell asleep the first time I watched the Raid so it must be worse.

Registered 9 years agoMan, I wish I'd had the inspiration to think of the "man enters drug and crime-infested building, fights men to take down crime boss" plot before the producers of Dredd and The Raid. I could have been hailed as a creative genius!
(both of those movies are really good, who cares if they have a similar bare-bones plot) -

Yeah, T1's more of a thriller with an action ending really. I prefer it that way to be honest.
