In fairness if his tv didn't support s-video then surely he couldn't even plug it in.

Registered 14 years agoYes he could, he could be connecting it with a SCART block. But the TV still needs to explicitly support S-Video, and he probably has to use a specific SCART port and probably a specific input on the TV. -

Registered 4 years agoMy TV does support s video (there is a specific s video port) and when I am at AV3 I can select AV and S-video. Even if I use a scary block the same thing happens. -

What region is the Wii from? I just had a look round and it looks like only NTSC (USA and Jap) support S-Video. Using it on a PAL Wii outputs composite. If the Wii is NTSC you should check that your TV definitely supports it. A lot of old TV's not from the USA or Japan don't.

Registered 20 years agoS-video with out the colour channel (pR and pB combined) means you end up with just the green channel rendered as black and white. If it comes and goes it suggests a problem with the cable itself or one or the other ends of it. -

Registered 18 years agoApparently everything should be plugged in. At least that's what I hear.
About every two months.
And around Christmas.
For the past ten years.
Cunts. -
who was that guy who didn’t plug all his component cable plugs in? -

Registered 16 years agoNintendo often took out features for different regional versions of consoles in the interest of shaving Pennies, especially when it comes to video output.
Either switch to another cable, such as RGB SCART or Component or alternately get an NTSC Wii if getting an inferior S-Video connection is so important. -
