They did, but they quite often review things twice if different critics have a hot take

Ah, it did come across as a bit too gushing to be honest. I'm pretty sure that this one would be far more accurate.
I never did feel that a character like the joker would be suitable to carry a film.
My heart sank when I saw who they got to direct it, as well

The director said he gave up on comedy because the PC brigade have ruined it, which puts me on the back foot straight away

Looks great to me. Going from reviews it's obviously a love it or hate it film, though most seem to be going with the former.

A Star is Born has good reviews, etc. But before that, yeah.

I think there's some truth to that.

I though the first Hangover film was hilarious on a first viewing. The sequels were terrible but the first had me cackling.

Any discussion about it now focuses almost entirely on how offensive it is.

I understand the argument for more progressive
comedy but if that's not what you want to do or if you feel that is too constrictive why not focus on a different genre.

    Edit @Nick

I think, generally, like with most people who say things like that, itís a bullshit excuse made by people who want to be cruel for the sake of it.

A movie was made in the last few years where two men hid inside an elephants fanny while another elephant fucked it. Comedy hasnít been restricted, being a cunt to people has.

I think any large production goes through a validation process to establish if it will cause offense.

You could argue that's a good thing but social media is now so powerful that it can kill a film before it's finished.

So there's absolutely restrictions on what is going to be released moving forward. Not necessarily a bad thing like anything there needs to be a balance.

I think itís less worrying about whether people will be offended and more if people will watch it.

Certainly in TV, there is good data showing that people think the world is shit enough without watching it on TV, which is why Ďmean judgeí shows and the like are falling out of favour and people are embracing things like the bake-off.

If there was money in it, a studio would produce it, but if people donít want to watch your edgelord movies, they donít have to and that isnít censorship, itís freedom of choice.

Was there anything particularly offensive in the Hangover films? Or any of his other films for that matter?

There's the "I'm going to watch this thing BECAUSE THE PC POLICE TOLD ME NOT TO" crowd. Though I don't know how powerful that effect is.

I think people were offended by how shit the third one was.

Although, tbh, I think war dogs was worse but whatever.

Nothing offensive. I just personally found the first two hangover films shit. Haven't seen the third one.
oh, and A star is born was also rubbish. I have no idea why it was so well reviewed everywhere

Old School was alright from what I can remember of it. Zach Gylinnfiacas is funny in the first Hangover too, but I'm not really a fan of the film itself.

The first Hangover made me laugh the first time, but then I was quite drunk. Subsequent viewings haven't fared as well. I had no desire to watch the same film again in different locations.

It is a bit tiresome seeing all these articles/youtube videos about not being able to make things anymore, and how offensive and disgusting they are. So many mentions about the US Office, and basically everything Ricky Gervais has made.

But yeah, first Hangover was good. The rest were bad, though not sure I even watched the third one.

Itís like complaining they canít make films showing black people as thick and sub human. Thereís still a huge amount of ways to be funny without doing things like that.

I really like the first hangover film. I've happily re-watched it a few times. Just to add another spin on this thrilling discussion.

This is a bit of a shame if the idea is dropped but Snyder has confirmed Harry Lennix was/is Martian Manhunter

    Who is Harry Lennix?

Of course itís been dropped. WB are doing everything they can to forget Snyder was ever involved.

Played the general in MoS and Batman V Superman.

Also a general in the matrix sequels (morpheus love rival) and a crap load of other films.
They are sort of moving on but Aquaman, Shazam, Wonder Woman and Bird's of Prey are all set in that world with more coming
