Wonder Woman and Joker are definitely cream of the crop. They are doing Joker with a live musical score at the Bridgewater Hall. Quite fancy that.

Be interesting to see how well Birds of Prey does. It really does sound like a lot of fun. I think Harley is in The Suicide Squad which is filming at the moment. Margot Robbie has also been saying that if BoP is a hit then she wants to do Gotham City Sirens next.

Fair play to her. She fought tooth and nail to get BoP made and I hope itís a massive hit. She may end up doing more for DC films than any other actor.
Sirens was what David Ayer was looking to make but WB put it on hold.
Also had a Harley and Joker film planned at one point

Did pretty good. It definitely had some janky moments to it. Like the weird romance cringe fest when theyíre in Italy.
    Even weighted against inflation?

Well you never know... enough muppets saying they hope it fails because it's heavy focus on female characters.

Maybe they will get a win one day

Ah so the feminist movement is why you want this DC film to do well. I see.

Estimation vs current BO seem to be a tad different. I really want to to do huge numbers and see the man tears flow on Geeks and Gamers and their other echo chamber counterparts. Not watched any of those in a very long time but I assume theyíre doing their ďwomminĒ thing. Theyíve not got anything else.

Edit: Looks like US domestic itís going to make $50 million on an $81 million budget this weekend.

Yes it will do fine, international is generally a bit more than domestic plus home video sales.

DC just need to do it different every time, the shared universe of marvel clicked early, and was like a series of slightly different Coldplay albums.

Itís hard to replicate. Especially without any defining scenes or shots - Reeve switching between Clark and superman, Rutger hower not getting the memo, Nicholson dancing in the pale moonlight are things DC lost trying to do a universe.

Why is profitability such a hot topic for films? It barely ever comes up when games are being discussed and never for music. Where did this culture of constantly taking about the box office come from specifically for movies? Itís weird.

I think it's just a measure of how well a film is doing. For music (and games to a lesser extent) you've got charts that do that job. For films all they have is box office take etc.

Why some care is another matter. It's not like when we want to see X small games studio do well as we like their creative output. Hard to distinguish between the large mega-corps behind most films.

Because people are easily led into following whatever movie studios want, and what movie studios want is to make money, so make quality arbitrary and have all the fans focused on whether picture x has broken the billion dollar mark and sit back comfortably knowing you donít really have to make anything good anymore.

I find it just all so weird. Itís like watching a stock youíre not invested in and getting excited when it goes up.

I seen it on Friday. I quite liked it. Some stuff I am on the fence about, for example McGregor's performance. Did I think it was ridiculous and shit, or mental and entertaining? Not really sure.

Overall it was fun though. Some of the action was a bit samey and meh, but some really great scenes and Margot Robbie was brilliant throughout.

Also, it is a stretch to call it a Bird's of Prey film, and a Joker and Harley movie probably would have been more interesting. If Leto didn't shit the bed.

Not according to Variety article from 30 minutes ago. It cost $80 million and has done $33 million US domestic. So yeah, letís just call it a disappointment.

Flash point, simple reboot, bring in the new Batman cast and Phoenix and keep the current Wonder Woman, Aquaman and so on.

Basically just boot Leto then coin toss for Alfred and Gordon actors
