For what it's worth it's done over $80m so yeah not a flop
Not according to Variety article from 30 minutes ago. It cost $80 million and has done $33 million US domestic. So yeah, letís just call it a disappointment.

    https://variety.com/2020/film/box-office/birds-of-prey-box-office-opening-weekend-margot-robbie-1203497944/

    Edit: Flop!

So the US only counts now?
Absolutely not. Iíve not seen the international numbers so I hope it does really well. We shall wait and see. Not seen anything that has $80 million but then again Iíve only seen reports of US domestic.

It's a shame it isn't tracking as well as it should. R rating, cinema shutdowns in China, Suicide Squad being Harley's only previous entry and weird marketing (review embargoes) that only went big after release.

    WORLDWIDE $81,250,000

    Has to double this.

Why did anyone think people would want to see a Deadpool clone based on a character from one of the most widely hated movies of the last ten years?

And at least call it My Big Fat Harley Quinn Movie or something.

Yep. International numbers are coming in and that seems bang on from what Iíve seen. So I do stand corrected.

They still have the marketing budget to make back. I donít know how people work this out but Iíve seen it stated that it needs to turn in about $250 million just to break even.

Even though I hated the film, I still want it to do extremely well. I want to see more Harley Quinn and hopefully sheíll get a much better film that what we got.

Excellent article. Iím so happy to see all those raw numbers that are meaningless to anyone but shareholders. Glad they can afford to put bread on the table now.

Not always but it does happen. The filmmakers are well aware of the criticisms and they know that if they make better films they will make even more money. Look at the Bond films. We got QoS and they followed that up with Skyfall. Hopefully No Time to Die will make up for Spectre.

Even Lucasfilm tried to Ďfixí The Last Jedi with The Rise of Skywalker.

There are 8 (?) DCEU movies, with 2 being good, and thatís generous. Yet they keep making them because they keep making loads of money. Letís just not now.
All the famous, mega-rich stars will be ok and find more work, and maybe we can get a decent attempt at it all again in a decade when someone comes up with a not-crap, not-dark-and-angsty version of it all.

WB have had the films cinema listing changed to Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey

I enjoyed it but the constant mentioning of joker showed how they need to sort that character out.

Dare say more would have seen it if the character was in the film.

Yeah. Looks as though WB/DC are in a bit of of a panic mode. Will probably take a massive nosedive in the second weekend but who knows.

Also, despite what people are saying itís not yet made itís budget back. Not all the money from opening weekend goes to the studio.

There are sites out there not claiming that Harley Quinnís role in future films will be SLASHED!!! Yeah, I seriously doubt that.

Was watching The Critical Drinkerís review of it last night. He did think that Margot Robbie overestimated her and Harleyís popularity. That sheís still an upcoming star as opposed to a bona-fide box office name. Interesting take.

In other DC stuff looks as though Shazam 2 and Black Adam will be filming at the same time.

It's kind of true, in that she's hasn't been the sole lead in anything really big other than this. She's always second to someone bigger that she's acting with.
The one that comes to mind is I, Tonya but I wouldn't expect any casual movie goers to know much about that one.

DC just dropped a huge bollock making the Joker an embarrassing metrosexual playboy. He is probably the reason SS made big money despite everyone thinking he was shit.

The character is clearly a big box office draw. I don't think this sorely missed him in terms of the film, but always having him mentioned throughout the film without any appearance was weird. It missed him in terms of box office though.

I donít mostly. Itís just when someone I follow re-tweets or is involved in a pure slagging off match online in some form or another that I may take an interest.

I do like The Critical Dinkerís YouTube channel even though at times I totally disagree with him. I donít think heís click bait at all.

I suppose at the end if the day, some of these sites/channels can be highly entertaining, even if I know exactly what theyíre doing.

The Captain Marvel meltdown once it made $1 billion was a joy to behold.

He could be a great Bruce Wayne but he's no Batman.
Sadly, I just think he's too hard a character to do for the kind of movie that it seems DC/ mass market will want. Personally, I'd like to see him hidden, stealthy and mostly like the docks scene in Batman Begins.

Unfortunately, Marvel has dictated that all superheroes should be punchy punchy shooty shooty.

Weirdly, as I get older I prefer Keaton's portrayal more and more.
