Hopefully Beastmaster agrees so he can say "there's something fishy about the negative reviews, I had a whale of a time!"

Back when I watched Entourage I used to think Aquaman was some joke superhero they made up because the premise was so silly.

I still kind of think it's all a joke

Ben Shwartz (Jean-Ralphio in Parks and Rec) has been harping on Twitter about how much he wants to play the role. He would be excellent for it.

If it manages to not take itself seriously in the right way and isn't too strongly connected with the main DCU there's no reason why it couldn't be a very entertaining film.

If he just plays Sonic the Hedgehog as Jean-Ralphio it could be the best thing ever.

It's certainly a thing right now. Ryan Reynolds doing Pikachu as himself etc.

No but I'm glad we're getting it. Same thing for the Joker film, Blue Beetle etc.

Marvel just seem to be churning out sequels at the moment (Captain Marvel aside), I like what DC is doing. They tried Snyder and a rushed cinematic universe and it didn't work out as well as they expected.

I think we're only getting Shazam and Joker next year. Wonder Woman 84 was originally December but that's moved to avoid Episode 9.

Matt Reeves has supposedly done his rewrite of The Batman and that's being submitted this week.

I kind of like the 'chaos' WB/DC is in at the moment.

And yet itís still churning out films little better than average. Ok so ww was a breath of fresh air (or so I thought on first viewing but didnít fare so well second time) aqua man is still looking divisive. Itís a bit early to say theyíve turned a corner, Shazam didnít look great from the trailers Iíve seen, I think theyíve still got a fair bit of work to do but yeah you canít fault them for trying I guess.

Marvel are churning out sequels only because they release films that do well and don't shit the bed. DC aren't some brave pioneers, they've been releasing fuck up after fuck up. I'm still waiting for a genuinely good film from them that doesn't feel like it's a reaction from what someone said on the Internet.

I'm starting to get high hopes for the new joker films. Phoenix is looking much better than that last prick.

I'm confident I could do a better job than the last guy. I've got no doubt in my mind that Phoenix will be excellent, it's just whether the actual film is.

He was beyond terrible as the joker. It didn't help that the film was complete shit as well but more of him isn't the solution.
Phoenix is crazy without having to pretend too much so should be perfect for this role.

Aquaman has crossed over $1 billion. Could go on to be there most successful WB/DC film and topple The Dark Knight. I donít think anyone saw that coming. I suppose itís something different and thatís why people are flocking to see it.

Also, never underestimate the pulling power of the mighty Khal Drogo and the female audience.

Fatigue setting in? After this and Marvelís Venom doing way better than anyone expected, it doesnít look like it.

I think Shazam will be a massive hit as well.

But Aquamans a joke who talks to fish.... No one wants to see that.

Shazam has potential to be a lot of fun.

Think people need to accept the superhero movie fatigue isn't happening anytime soon.

I do hope it isnít true about the Joker film comments on todayís political climate, as for me Iím all about escapism, rather than dragging in todayís utter bollocks into a film.

The thing that worked massively in Aquamans favour is that it's pretty much a stand alone film. You didn't need to know any back story and it didn't tie itself in knots trying to slot itself into the wider universe.

Plus, really, the was fuck all else out.

I think the reason Aquaman did well because as mentioned there was fuck all else out. Didn't suicide squad do really well at the cinema despite being utter dog shit and not much else out at the time?

Suicide Squad was entertainingly hilariously shite, and featured leggy blonde Margot Robbie.

All other DC films aren't quite shit enough to be funny, and most are about three-squillion hours long. Except for Wonder Woman, which was all-around average.
