    Just finished it.

It's a lot of rehashing of the first movie, but honestly found it entertaining the entire way through. Hoping it does well enough for a second season.

Misread the title of this thread as Cobra Koi, got excited about carp.

Watched the pilot earlier. It's far better than I imagined it would be. If it keeps this quality all the way through I'll gladly pay for each episode.

Watched the first two and I think I really liked it despite thinking I wouldn't. Great move in making Daniel a total shit-eater (at the start anyway).

Guy gets his was kicked as a kid and it fuck up his entire life as he hangs onto his pre-pubescent glories. It's quite silly.

Watched the first two freebies and this is really stupid but actually pretty cool. I might even buy the rest.

Watched it all. It's good fun. There's some really bad writing, but it kinda works for it.

Finished watching the first series yesterday and I thoroughly enjoyed it, even though I'd practically written it off before watching it. Of all the intellectual properties that have been dug up from the past, this is hands down the best rebirth of the lot.

It respects the original source material, but does something truly interesting and unexpected with the storyline as a whole, without turning the original characters into fumbling caricatures of themselves, or simply sidelining them to make way for the new, younger talent. It's far better conceived than you'd ever imagine.

There were some eye-rollingly cheesy (and sometimes predictable) moments, but it almost works in the programme's favour, keeping the tone in line with its cheesy 80s roots.

If you have any interest in the original Karate Kid film I'm almost certain you'd love this series. If not, I'm not so sure, but it sure is entertaining.

Cheesy as hell and I am not sure anyone under 30 will be that excited but I really enjoyed it and binged all 10 episodes.

It actually struck a good balance between keeping the 80's PG vibe and being a little more current. I'd watch another series so hope it gets another season.

I don't think there are any under 30's on this forum.

Watched the first two which were pretty decent. Was fairly in keeping with the first two films and I enjoyed the nostalgia. Can't say I'm that arsed about watching the rest of it though.

Hang on a minute. I based my entire life on the principle that you should never be as bad as the bullies that try to hurt you. Karate Kid was my inspiration.

Are you saying that crane thingy was actually an illegal move ?

Kicks to the head were illegal, yes.

Refresh my memory. Doesn't Danny try it at the end of part II and it gets blocked? Did that happen? It's been a very long time since I've seen that one.

Good memory, he does indeed get blocked. Eventually defeats him with the mystical power of Mr Miyagi's magic drum and a honk on the nose.

The sequels were... erm... the sequels weren't as good at the original.

That's it then. I am going full on bad boy.

Breaking speed limits, sniffing glue, teasing kittens with bits of food. Nothing is off limits.

Whatever happened to glue sniffing anyway ?

What's all this bullshit about the All Valley Karate Championship not allowing kicks to the head?

The rules always appeared fairly fluid to me, in the tournament there's all sorts of shenanigans going on.

Anyway in the original Elizabeth Shue breaks down the rules to Daniel-san.

No, Bobby Brown gets disqualified for taking out Daniel San's knee, but that's His Prerogative

I watched that film just about every day of my life from the ages 8-12, I'm sure someone gets a warning for an illegal blow to the head.

I tell you who gets an illegal blow to the head - Daniel San, from Ali after he wins the kumite. Then they have fishfingers, chips and beans.
