Boring on topic: diversity of background/experience/social status/education, etc. is good for an organisation in the round as it reduces group think and self confirmation. (like it is bad for many politicians to have gone to the same school, studied the same degrees and then had the same career path - no wonder there is hardly any innovation in policy).
It can be difficult to translate that objective, and I am often sceptical about any concrete link to individual roles (ie at expense of a particular person). My work transparently says it wants it workforce to reflect society, so that its output can reflect society. That means targeted recruitment campaigns, going ti different campus. For individual jobs there really is hardly any impact as far as I can see. We get good people and we get shit people and we get people overpromoted of all sorts. -
