@HypnoToad1 Let's be honest, while a few are quite nice, the majority of craft beers do taste like a dead ferret wrapped in an old sock.

@Dirtbox its far more than trimming, there has been 3 waves of redundancies since just before Christmas including senior management. Some really good staff were cut whilst they persist with some of the shit as well. The reaction when red dead 2 was delayed was rather panicky.
    Oh.

And yeah, a delay on a big title can shaft them mightily, not only does their marketing budget take a huge hit, what with all the store specific exclusive bollocks, plus their sales projections are dumped on too, which shits off their shareholders.

Gamestop just choked and it's stock took a huge dive in the US.

Hard time of year for the he specialist game retailers as not much comes out. Look at this week, Mario tennis in at number one and FIFA 18 sits at number 2, fallout 4 at number 5. There is no way the other 2 sold many copies and yet the overheads keep coming. Last week was even worse with fallout at number 3, can't have been much more than a few hundred copies sold here.

Have GameStop gone or just having a huge wobble?

    The fuck?

Fallout 4 is number 5, and that's how many years old now?

And GTA V is number 7? Really?

I haven't looked at the game charts since god knows when but is that what is looks like now? The same 8 or so games jostling around the top 10 for years at a time?

    New releases tend to come in and hang round the top for a few weeks and then fade out, leaving a mix of new releases and classics to take up the rest. It doesn't take into account digital sales either which isn't helpful but does show how much trouble specialist game shops are in. This week's top 10 is;
    1 MARIO TENNIS ACES
    2 FIFA 18
    3 GOD OF WAR
    4 MARIO KART 8 DELUXE
    5 FALLOUT 4
    6 DETROIT: BECOME HUMAN
    7 GRAND THEFT AUTO V
    8 CALL OF DUTY: WWII
    9 SUPER MARIO ODYSSEY
    10 PLAYSTATION VR WORLDS

I saw Fallout 4 heavily discounted on PSN for the first time a week or two ago so that may contribute to it. Do digital sales count?

No they don't, but it has been in a few bundles which do count.

There's probably been a surge of interest in FO4 following the announcement of the new one as well.

GTA tends to float around because buying a physical bundle is usually the cheapest way of getting in-game currency, especially once you trade it back in or sell it on. Most Gamestops are absolutely awash with second-hand copies.

Wtf is wrong with fosters. Lovely and refreshing on a warm summers day and no dodgy next day stomache like you get with your sodding craft beers.

I get far worse hangovers from Fosters or Carling than I do from, say, Arbor ales.

I don't mind some mainstream lagers, quite like Corona, but Fosters tastes awful. Only reason to drink it is to get loaded, and as I don't drink to get hammered anymore I'd rather drink something that actually tastes pleasant.

Peroni is the bare minimum for me. Ideally Punk or Asahi.

My local Game on Hounslow high street has closed now. Looks like the Nintendo Switch release was the last midnight opening I'll ever attend.

Skol and Hoffmeister were the pinnacle of a sophisticated night out in 1983.

    :D

You never see Castlemaine XXXX anymore, do you?

Anyway, not a game store but John Lewis are saying that they've made zero profit this year. This year the following shops/restaurant chains have had serious problems or have actually gone tits up:

    Maplin
    Toys 'R' Us
    Poundworld
    Mothercare
    House of Fraser
    Bargain Booze
    New Look
    Homebase
    Carpet Right
    Byron
    Carluccios
    Chimichangas
    Claire's Accessories
    Prezzo

And probably more. Rough times for retail chains.

Bloody hell my dad loved Castlemaine XXXX, for a supposed Muslim he wasn't very good at the old not drinking, not smoking, not marrying outside faith and race lark.

Call me a heathen but I actually like Stella and Calsberg.

Yes Carling without a doubt is pure chemical toilet water. It was my first beer and was so bad it pushed me to drink ale throughout uni.

You guys don't know horrible alcoholic beverages until you've tried a warm glass of Tetley's.
