With X you would get a compact, quiet and powerful machine, optimised backwards compatibility compared to S, 4K, 1080p downsampling, shorter loading times... Besides, the Xbox One controller is the best, in my opinion, for 3D and 2D games.
    Pity the OP wants exclusives.

I've recently been given quite a few vouchers for a certain retailer and was thinking of picking up an Xbox One X. I've got a gaming PC, PS4 Pro a few handhelds & a Nvidia Shield TV for the retro stuff. As daft as it may sound the main selling point for me is the backwards compatibility.. I ain't really interested in Xbox Live/competitive MP games etc can folk educate me on the exclusives/good indie stuff/the stuff yet to be released and anything else.

    Thanks.

@Pierre2k All really good points, the only thing that is missing at the moment is some more single-player focused games like Fable and whatever else Microsoft is planning. Super Lucky's Tale is an excellent addition to the Xbox library, I hope that a more ambitious sequel is in the cards because the art style, controls and music are awesome. Quantum Break is one of the best single-player games of the generation and I think it's often overlooked.

Most here have already covered the bases, but I'd say the One X is definitely worth the price of admission for most.

That said, the issues with Xbox exclusives are certainly legitimate and if you have a decent gaming PC most games will also be there.

Still, if you're primarily a console gamer if offers a lot IMO, and there are plenty of great older exclusive titles. The positives for me, in no particular order, would be:
    - Compact, silent running, machine
    - Relatively cheap 4K Blu-ray player (works really well)
    - Dolby Atmos support
    - Best version of multiplatform titles
    - Xbox Live and the general framework, dash etc are preferable to PS IMO
    - Game Pass is a great deal for both Microsoft Titles and multiplayer.
    - Ditto EA access of you like their titles
    - Best controller IMO. Of you go for an elite, even better, plus you will have native support on most games on your PC as well.
    - Play Anywhere is great for digital games. I don't have a powerful enough PC to take advantage just now, but I love it when you get a new PC and revisit games dialling everything up to 11
    - Backwards compatability really is brilliant. More so than on past generations in my view as there really has been diminishing returns from last gen to this. Not the night and day comparison from say PS1 to PS2.

In terms of exclusives, your mileage may vary, but most of the few that do exist are genuinely brilliant on my view, despite the repetition of the same franchises. Many are also available exceptionally cheap now. When I got my X, I picked up loads of old exclusives for the
