Apologies, had to post this here as couldn't find the "Fake Sports" category but whose watching Mania 34 this weekend?!

This year for the first time I'm going to watch it live at a bar in town rather than at home in my pants. It's going to be a late night on Sunday doesn't finish til 4am, maybe even 5.

Popped my Mania cherry in 1990 watching the Ultimate Warrior triumph over the immortal Hulk Hogan and have been hooked on and off since. Something great about watching this shit specifically live, guess it's the knowledge that anything could go wrong (very) at any moment in front of 80,000 people.

For any lapsed fans out there, you can watch it live on the WWE network on your phone, console, smart TV etc. It's a tenner a month but sign up as new user, you get a free month, watch the Mains then cancel.

Weird one is wrestling but as far as fake athletics go, Wrestlemania is a great viewing spectacle.

A few of us used to get together at a mates' house and watch the thing with loads of beer and snacks - had a blast. Couldn't beat it for over the top entertainment with a huge dose of nostalgia.

Not watched for the last few years though - the guys we grew up with are long gone now and there doesn't seem to be much to get excited about in regards to the new generation of wrestlers. Think the last time we got together was Rock/Cena as the ME.

I don't like the frequency of PPVs nowadays. They don't feel special anymore. Wrestlemania is still awesome though, like a season finale where you get to see how the stories they've been building up to finally resolve :)

It's improved loads in the last three years or so. They basically hired the twenty best independent wrestlers from around the world and raided the other feds (New Japan and TNA) and now have a roster of great "new generation" guys but also a few golden oldies... Orton, Cena, Taker, Lesnar etc

Not to mention the women's division which has gone from being a joke to really good. They had a first ever women's royal rumble this year and have just been signed Ronda Rousey and a load of ex UFC women.

Great primer podcast for anyone wanting to jump back in and watch it for free on the WWE network :

...which is true, yet last year's Wrestlemania was complete balls.

However pretty much every NXT: Takeover has been excellent, so I guess it evens out.

Somewhere on the Internet there’s a Ven Diagram with “spandex” on one side and “fake tan” on the other.
At the intersection is a picture of MrTom birching his inappropriate boner back to its respectful flaccid state.

Is the undertaker still in it then? I thought he retired?

Not officially. The current working theory is that he'll come back as Biker Taker and it was just the old gimmick that retired.

They are teasing it. Expected it to be biker version appearing.

Imagine he needs to ride a bike to the ring as he would struggle to walk it.

I can't watch it live, so I'll need to avoid Twitter all week.

I was watching live on Sky Sports the night undertaker debuted, Survivor Series 1990. Was ten and remember being pretty scared of him.

I'm hyped for this and WWE is probably having the best few years its had in well over a decade but seven hours is bound to be a punishing slog at times.

Watching the Kevin Owen 365 documentary there were good matches I'd forgotten had even happened in the midst of the new WWE formula of making the biggest shows mammoth endurance events.

Takeover distilling excellence and trimming the excess will probably be show of the weekend again. But man, so much to look forward to

Good point. Hope and assume you don't watch any films from Hollywood. And didn't realize the wrestlers were forced into it.
