I really enjoyed Heavy Rain, found Beyond: Two Souls rather meh (other than Ellen Page ).Not sure where this'll end up, but I did enjoy the demo (after accepting there is no "good" outcome, just less bad ones). The flow-chart was very reminiscent of the Zero Escape games (where it is an actual mechanic as you need to gather information from alternative branches to progress). Here's it's just used as a pointer to how things could've been different. I'm not sure whether that'll lead to me compulsively replaying a single section until I'm satisfied with an outcome. Which I'm not sure is the best way to play this sort of game the first time around... |

Registered 9 years agoI don't think you can replay sections, as far as i know its like in heavy rain where if they die that's it and you move on -

I like how it's futuristic.
For a second there, it had me thinking it was a murder mystery horror game like heavy rain.
If Sony can do it again and get 10s; ♥️Sony♥️ -

Yeah i think the negotiation was ok camera wise, it was during the investigation i meant it was a bit too close in.

Registered 6 years agoSecond playthrough. Slightly 'better' ending and I'm warming to the sterile aestetic but I still find the investigation pretty poorly executed. The controls don't feel like they flow very naturally for me. -

Registered 14 years agoI’ve thoroughly enjoyed the demo, have reached all the endings with only one item on the flowchart left locked (just before gun decision). I’m not sure how it’ll scale into a full game though.
I haven’t played Heavy Rain but if it’s similar I might pick it up. -

Registered 9 years agoIts very similar, if you enjoyed the demo i would recommend it. Some really tense moments and hefty consequences. Until dawn is well worth a look if you havent played it too.

Registered 9 years agoImpressed with the demo. Gorgeous graphics, good use of sound through the ps4 controller speaker, and the story seemed engaging. I was a fan of Heavy Rain, although retrospectively I think it's really rough. Actually quite enjoyed Beyond, and Fahrenheit is straight up garbage.
Will wait for a price drop for this rather paying full whack. -

Absolutely gutted I didn't have a PS4 when Until Dawn was on PS+. Still waiting for it to have a hefty price drop.

Registered 16 years ago@FrostPan How dare you sir?! Fahrenheit was great! One of my favourite games of that gen, it's because of Fahrenheit that I (eventually) bought a PS3 because I knew their next game would be a PlayStation exclusive. -

Registered 12 years agoPlayed the demo a lot yesterday, seen every outcome. Really hyped for it now.
Graphics are fantastic as expected and if it's full of tense scenes like the negotiation then it will be a great experience.
Going to play through Heavy Rain and Beyond again before the end of May. -

Registered 17 years agoI played it for about 10 mins...got stuck in a room/bedroom I could not get out of, or move the camera to see a way to get out, I'm not joking.
Obviously I could have restarted just could not be arsed. Maybe another time. -

With David Cage as the lead writer? This is the same guy who said Detroit is going to be different from Blade Runner because his game will show the humans as being bad. There is no chance this will get a majority of 9s or 10s

Registered 16 years agoYeah I like David Cage's games but expecting them to get 10s is like expecting a Marvel movie to win a Best Picture Oscar. -

Registered 15 years agoThis does not bode well, right? A late embargo tends to mean the review scores will be poor, I think. -

Registered 9 years agoNot really Bethesda do it all the time. There is a chance they want to keep spoilers at bay for as long as possible too. Quantics games are all very similar and most people will know by now if they want the game or not. I hope it's closer to heavy rain than beyond was and looking at the consequence map in the demo it seems that it is. -

Late review embargoes mean nothing.
It's Bethesda's standard policy - the've done it for all of their recent titles, including Doom. Sony tend to be a little freer but i WOULDN'T READ TOO MUCH INTO IT JUST YET.
Ed: Sorry about caps. Can't be bothered to rewrite it.
