Hi there, I'm terrible at remembering old games but you guys are clearly experts at it so i thought I'd give this a go. I can remember almost nothing about this game apart from one specific detail, so here goes (and everything below needs to have 'I think' appended to it!... - It wasn't a text based adventure, you had a character that walked around and could go inside and outside of buildings - It was either on the spectrum or the Atari ST (that's how bad I am at remembering) - It was in black and white - It was based in a city - you could pick up and use items, obviously I guess (I remember their was a radio you could use) - At one point you could go into a church, if you entered the church then the next screen saw your character standing on the left hand side of the screen with the church alter on the far right. Their was an item on the ground near the alter. BUT if you started to walk down the aisle your health suddenly started to deplete. If you moved left, back to the front door it stopped depleting. I'm sure i'm not making this up (although sometimes it feels like it). Does anyone have any idea what this game might have been called? Cheers guys. |

Amiga (and CD32), PC, Saturn (Japan only) and PS1 (Japan only). Possibly some other Japanese computers and likely Mac. Dark Seed 2 lost the Amiga formats (I got a copy on Mac in futile hope of emulating it and an unfortunately French text only PC copy) and possibly was only PS1 (Japan only) consolewise.

Registered 16 years agoPerhaps if you could remember if you were controlling the character with a keyboard (probably Spectrum then) or using a mouse (definitely Atari ST).
Sorry I'm drawing a blank, a game in a City with accessible buildings that includes a church, and objects you can pick up and use, isn't much to go on. I suppose the character was a generic guy with no notable or memorable features too. -

. Went through a phase of checking out Japanese Saturn releases of PC adventure games (Phantasm (Phantasmagoria) being an 8 CD monster...)
Dark Seed 2 was curiosity about actually playing it. Always been a Giger fan so that helps. -

I couldn't stand more than two minutes of the main character whining to his mom, but I guess Dark Seed 2 at least makes for good Youtube material.

Do you have Zork 1? Now that was an interesting japanese port. I actually managed to get pretty far on the Saturn with my basic japanese skills, but got stuck in the bat caves...

Actually "seeing" the world of Zork for the first time was pretty nice though. There are some evocative pictures, and the soundtrack is also quite good.

The game (DS ) was heavily flawed but Ibhave a soft spot for it. Need to play through 2 now I have it running on Win3.1 in Dosbox. The original Zork is one I didn't get, be easier than Realsound I imagine (my Japanese listening skills aren't my strongest point). I think I have one of the graphical Zork sequels though. May have to check it out though.
