If it’s any help, there’s lots of cases of people getting hit by lightning and surviving.
I think there was even a guy that got hit 7 times in his life time.

The spider thing is weird, I also read the study that showed 6 month old babies already fear them. So from an evolutionary standpoint, at some time in our past they must have been a serious enough threat to us, and all the humans that didn’t fear spiders died.
I’m just not sure if it was regular spiders that just had a venom that worked well on humans, or if it were particularly large spiders.

Wasps, I fucking hate them. It's the way they buzz around you so aggressively and won't clear off and leave you the fuck alone.

If I see a wasp I move away very quickly. If I go into a room and there's a wasp in there I will normally leave. If I'm stuck in a enclosed space with a wasp I'm a complete wreck. I thought I was getting better with them until I was staying in an Air B'n'B in Auckland and I found one on my backpack. I threw the backpack out the door and the fucker crawled under the door to come and get me. It was late at night in a stranger's house so I was really paranoid about making loads of noise killing it, or just leaving the room. I was terrified, heart pounding, palms sweating, everything. The worst bit was that the wasp was clearly half-dead because it wasn't flying, just crawling very slowly and not a threat, but still I was absolutely scared shitless. That was when I realised really how deep my phobia is. I only kill things as a last resort, even wasps, but this one had to go because it was clearly fixated on me, so I whacked it with my shoe.

Strangely I don't mind bees, in fact I rather like them, although the buzzing will normally make me jump because I think it is a wasp. I don't mind any other insects really, except flies, which I'm not scared of, but I fucking hate them because they're disgusting, in a way I hate them more than wasps. I am a big supporter of spiders as they are our allies in the neverending war against the flies.

Probably not a proper phobia, but I really don't like hypodermic needles. I can watch them on tv (out of the corner of my eye, feeling quite uncomfortable). In person though, can't look, get hot and sweaty etc. I really have to make a proper effort to sit still long enough.

    I'd make a shit junkie.

Oh great, ‘it only works if you believe in it’ remedies.
