Other than when they are actually playing the games?.. As a rule I generally don't but that was before I bought [link url=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nex_Machina]Nex Machina[/link & currently I can't get enough of the soundtrack so much so that I've purchased a copy, probably helps a bit that I'm besotted with the game too but yeah first time for me & it's now being used primarily as my jogging music.

    enjoy..

& make sure to check out the game if you haven't already cause it's a rather splendid twin stick shooter from Housemarque with a certain Mr Eugene Jarvis on creative consultant duties!

All the time, particularly at the gym. Some favourite OSTs over recent years:

    Stellaris
    Elite Dangerous
Deus Ex: Human Revolution & Mankind Divided
    XCOM2
    Hyper Light Drifter (by Disasterpiece)
    Technobabylon
    Mass Effect 1-3 & Andromeda
    No Man's Sky

Effectively, anything ambient space, neo-electronic or retro synthwave tends to work well for me.

I used to, the OST's of Quake 1, Blood, Binding of Isaac (original PC game, not Rebirth), Mass Effect 1, and Space Invaders Infinity Gene. Not anymore though. I just recalled the first OST I listened to was when I was 11 or 12, I recorded the Super R-Type soundtrack with a cassette recorder leant against the TV speaker.

Very decent track in the OP by the way.

A few, albeit mostly older titles and almost all Japanese. Over the last couple of years, only Persona 5 and Nier: Automata have seriously impressed me with their OSTs, though Final Fantasies XIV and XV were ok, as was Dragon Age: Inquisition.

I have copy of the MOH Frontline OST I listen to now and then in the car, it's every good as a great war film OST and invokes fond gaming memories, I also have the Rayman Legends song tracks in the car which the kids love.

Initial answer no I don't really care about soundtracks...

But then I thought about it. I have the soundtracks to four Silent Hill games on iTunes and a few others like Digital devil Saga and I've recently been getting misty eyed and nostalgic about a lot of the JRPGs I played in the 90s and a major part of those memories are the soundtracks.

Yes and no then, I find a lot of game soundtracks these days are forgettable wallpaper that you don't even notice but there always standouts and a vast amount of fantastic soundtracks to be found in older games.

Furi is decent OST to listen to, other than that Hotline Miami 1 and 2, but they are just mixes of good stuff rather than OSTs

Crypt of the Necrodancer might be good for the Hotline Miami fans as far as pulsing stuff goes

Zelda soundtracks mostly with my daughter, but she also listens to rayman, Mario & Others. Personally, I am partial to some Hatsune Miku tracks. Not sure they count as traditional game OSTs though...

I will pop onto Spotify or YouTube every now and then to listen to the Final Fantasy VI - X soundtracks, Nier and Nier Automata, Persona 3, 4 and 5 and the Danganronpa OSTs.

Great songs and of course the nostalgia chills, lovely stuff. There's a couple of Spyro ones too that I can't fucking wait for the remake for.

Edit: oh yes and the music at the end of the boss fights in Twilight Princess, oof.

Yes, often through YouTube playlists, but added a few like the Deus Ex and Mass Effect soundtracks via Google Music. Castlevanias and Ace Combat games are often standouts.

I also used to be big into remixes at one point, although not so much any more. There's only so many times you can hear certain tracks remixed. Still, some of virt's (Jake Kaufman) remixes such as Crystal Flash from Super Metroid remain great. Since then the guy's gone on to do the soundtracks of a few games, including Retro City Rampage.

The FTL soundtrack is rather glorious. 8 bitty but with bass and depth to some of the sounds, makes it sound expansive and ethereal.

It has 2 tracks for each region (I think that's how to describe it), one chilled and down tempo and the other with beats (for the fights)

    Here's a blurb about it...

"Think of it like a 2-disc set: tracks 1-14 are the low-key, relaxing Explore pieces, while tracks 15-29 make up the exciting, fast-paced Battle music. Listen to whichever half fits your mood, or make your own arrangement!"

Occasionally listen to video game music on the stereo.

This track from Sine Mora gets on the 'reading in the bath' playlist:

And I play the odd track from the Witcher OST when I need to really psyche myself up. You know, like say there's a particularly monstorous backlog of washing up that needs conquering:

Dude, "game" is the worst spelling I've ever seen of Gradius V.

And I have the "Location Test song" from Mushihimesama as my ringtone.

Basically, the day I meet someone who recognises this, I probably should kill them on the spot to avoid any doppelganger/spacetime disruption nonsense.

    Jet Set Radio + JSRF
    Tekken Tournament Tag
    Sonic R
    Burning Rangers
    Thunderforce IV
    F-Zero
    Occarina of Time
    Gitaroo Man

Sega did some immensely cheesy yet enjoyable soundtracks in the Saturn/Dreamcast era. Would love a playlist.

    Blakester wins the thread.

I have a bundle of game OSTs, myself; all the Halos, a decent chunk of Final Fantasy stuff (and I have VII's OST signed by Uematsu and XIII signed by Hamauzu \o/), NieR (Gestalt on CD and both on vinyl), Panzer Dragoon, Jet Set Radio, Shenmue, Zelda, Killer Instinct (original and 2013, both are great). I'm sure there's plenty I'm missing.

Distant Worlds and Symphony of the Goddesses are both a damn good time if you're a fan of Final Fantasy and Zelda.
