Hmmmmm, I got my eye on you. It's alright I'm just getting a bit annoyed with the large amount of people on other sites complaining that there's a woman and black guy in the trailer which makes it not historically accurate, because obviously bf is a simulation and not a backdrop for you to do crazy shit.
I don't think (hope?) the problem is the woman or the black guy since those were already in BF1, but rather the beard, tattoos, tank tops, robotic arm and the fucking katana.

They should probably have made a Vietnam game instead.

I'm not a fan of the garish colour scheme they've went for.

It's all completely unrealistic anyway. Most of World War II was just cockney communities gathering in pubs to join hands and sing Roll Out the Barrel, so games have got it all wrong regardless.

Trailer breakdown for all the new features. Worth watching for those interesting how V is changing up the core stuff.

Adjust your TV/Monitor to tone it down?

@JamboWayOh Aye, it's depressing but sadly not surprising in the current climate. 'Cunts. Cunts everywhere' etc.

For the avoidance of doubt, any digs I'm having are more reflective of my interest in how they are going to handle the monetization through customization, in lieu of the traditional Battle Pass or DLCs. I wonder how extensive the cosmetic/skin system may be, for example :)

As I mentioned before, I loved BF1 and thought DICE did a great job with it. I fully expect this to be as good, just not sure yet how much it's offering over BF1 to pull me in.

It's not that. The gameplay in the trailer has really saturated colors and lots of contrast compared to BF1.

I'll no doubt get this but first thoughts:

Why are the graphics so stylised? From screenshots it looks more like Vietnam or Far Cry.

BF1 was relatively respectful of the source material. It worked hard to convey the horrific nature of the conflict.

WW2 was just as horrific, so why is the A-Team in this? I don't like the fact that for many kids, this will be their first exposure to WW2.

@Zidargh I'm a historian by background (though not by current employment). The idea that you need to be "respectful" in your treatment of history is a recent invention and, outside of certain specific issues (the Holocaust is the example that springs to mind), I'd say it's false.

History is going to inform both art and entertainment and people are going to run with it in different ways. Campy, cartoony interpretations of WW2 have a history running back to... well... WW2 itself. I have no idea whether Battlefield V is going to be good or bad - my instincts say "bad". But one thing I won't criticise it for is deviating from the Call of Duty model of nauseating "press X to pay respects" faux-sombre tone.

BF1 was very much a prisoner of the idea that all depictions of WW1 have to adhere to a particular tone. That's actually unhelpful in all kinds of ways, not least because it helps perpetuate some of the (increasingly disputed) popular myths about WW1.

Agree with Roguey. The fact there's a MP fps videogame about WW1 is already disrespectful if you're going along those lines.

It's a game; an online playground for shooting digital friends without consequences, loosely themed around a specific time and event in history.

The War Stories will treat the material more seriously, in both narrative and tone, but the MP is for people to express themselves and have some fun.

I'm digging it. Looks ace and supportive of the gameplay changes. I very much like the removal of the passive health and ammo replenishment.

BF1 was class though. Easily my favourite to date.

Women didn't fight in world war 2 did they btw?
Women in the French Resistance played an important role in the context of the resistance to occupying German forces during World War II. Women represented 15 to 20% of the total number of French Resistance fighters within the country. Women also represented 15% of political deportations to Nazi-run concentration camps.
Nancy Grace Augusta Wake, AC, GM (30 August 1912 – 7 August 2011) was a secret agent during the Second World War. Living in Marseilles with her French industrialist husband when the war broke out, Wake slowly became enmeshed with French efforts against the Germans, and worked to get people out of France. Later she became a leading figure in the maquis groups of the French Resistance and was one of the Allies' most decorated servicewomen.

After the fall of France in 1940, she became a courier for the French Resistance and later joined the escape network of Captain Ian Garrow.[1] By 1943, Wake was the Gestapo's most wanted person with a 5-million-franc price on her head. It, therefore, became necessary for her to leave France.
Lyudmila Mikhailovna Pavlichenko[a] (née Belova; 12 July 1916 – 10 October 1974) was a Soviet sniper in the Red Army during World War II, credited with 309 kills. She is regarded as one of the top military snipers of all time and the most successful female sniper in history

@Tuffty Speaking of female French resistance to German occupation during WWII, it seems that the extent of their resistance was quite limited. Approximately 200,000 births in France during the war period was the direct result of French women having sex with German occupiers.

Going prone in this game is going to have some unforeseen consequences....
...the Resistance’s principal legacy was emotional recovery from the humiliation of 1940. It “allowed us to look at a Russian, British or American soldier without blushing,” recalled the journalist and resister Roger Stéphane in the 1950s. “Never had so many men consciously run so many risks for such a small thing: a desire to bear witness. Perhaps it is absurd, but it was by such absurdities that we restored our dignity as men.”

The resistance myth was also fanned by Gaulle for his own political ambitions.
