Out next week for regular folks (tomorrow for the Deluxe wankers) - it’s an ‘Avoid’ from EG and a ‘Buy’ from ACG.

    What will YOOOUUUU do?

    (I don’t care)

I’m a deluxe wanker, wasn’t expecting that review but will see if the bugs are really as bad as they’re saying.

I did what conventional advice would be and googled it. It is:

    Anti-counterfeiting Group
    Association for Corporate Growth
    American College of Gastroenterology
    Anime, Comics and Games
    ACG Education
    ACG Products
    NikeLabs ACG
    Australian Centre for Geomechanics
    ACG Research
    ACG Solutions
    ACG MPLS
    American College of Greece
    Área de Conservación Guanacaste
    ACG Live Events Marketing
    American Council On Germany

That's just the first 2 pages. I looked 10 pages in but the only gaming related one was an Anti-Cheat Gamers Steam group.

Don't get be wrong, I'm sure the amount of time saved by not typing whatever it actually is (and I honestly genuinely still don't know) was well worth it, but I have spent 10 minutes trying finding out myself and I'm still none the wiser. So could someone please tell me?

    Angry centaur gaming

    https://www.youtube.com/user/AngryCentaurGaming

He had loads of fun with it and didn't see that many bugs at all. He tends to like similar stuff to me and calls out shit normally if he finds it.

Sounds very average in most reviews and rather shite in the EG one. Can't be doing with ACG, his reviews are half decent I suppose but his style irritates me, needs to chill out a bit.

Deluxe wanker and I’m looking forward very much to playing it 😀 I trust ACG far more than Eurogamer with reviews. I get the feeling Eurogamer are being controversial just for the sake of it lately.

Trust is a weird word to use when talking about a subjective opinion. Or is this based on the belief that YouTubers are free from influence?

In this sense, I think they just mean his opinions are more reliable relative to their own opinion than EG's. Also ACG does bang on about not being sponsored in any way. Not that I think EG's opinions are sponsored either, I should add.

You could argue that the rate at which he blasts through games and gets his reviews out is questionable. How long has he actually played this for?

He wouldn't have to be sponsored but it's clear a fair few YouTube games reviewers still play the game as it were with being somewhat chummy with developers and publishers.

the first one was objectively shit, but I subjectively quite enjoyed it :) (I am sure it was also buggy as hell and janky as fuk).

Second one sounds similar! shame though it doesnt sound like the new, improved and expanded game I was hoping for!

Yeah i played the first recently and it is really janky but had some good ideas. I'm hoping the second provides some good co-op fun for a bit and a few laughs.

Due to MS Rewards closing / merging with Bing I cashed in what I had in Gems etc and went digital for this one. Total cost £2.28. Surely it can't be that bad!

He's addressed this previously. He finishes everything, iirc, and cross checks platforms.
He functions without much sleep and always has, and he tends not to suffer distractions while he's playing something so he can get through stuff reasonably fast (relative to the average gamer).

That's fair enough but it seems a lot of games for one person to get through. It's obviously in his own personal interest to get as many reviews out as possible but I can't imagine it's much fun and must have an effect on how he views each game.

A fat bearded guy wearing a woolly hat and sunglasses indoors, whilst dishing out Graphics / Sound / Gameplay / Fun Factor scoring like it's the 1990s all over again, doesn't exactly shout "trustworthy" to me.

The sunglasses are a health thing. He has some kind of eye issue and is sensitive to light, I think.

ACG actually has an impressive track record for calling games right.

It might sound stupid but the games he says are great are great and the games he says are shit....are shit.

Personally, that’s all I need from a reviewer. Taking EG as another example where God of War scrapes a recommendation, Nintendo Labo is ESSENTIAL and Metal Gear Survive is “surprisingly enjoyable”......I know who I trust more.

The best thing you can do with reviews is find a couple of reviewers who tend to care about the same things that you do and whose style doesn't irritate you too much and rely on their judgements. It also helps to work out which sites/reviewers tend to have blind-spots for certain types of games. Nintendo could release a turd in a Tupperware box and EG would slap an Essential on it.

The EG review took SoD2 apart over bugs, which seems like a legitimate complaint (and I wish reviewers would generally place more emphasis on bugs). Then again, Edwin did the review, which is generally not a good sign (though at least he got through this one without wittering on about colonialism).

Again, that word trust. You just mean his views align with yours, trustworthiness has nothing to do with it.

I thought it might have been All About The Games and you were talking about Dale for a sec.
