It surely cannot be as utter dog shite as Fallout 4, one would hope.

Bit of a shit name. Didn't bother with 4 as it looked too much like 3. Hopefully they try something different with this one.

Excited by the thought, despite not liking 4 too much. No base building this time hopefully!

That screams "filler RPG release on the old tech while we try to figure out a new engine for a proper new game". E3 will tell, I guess.

I bounced off Fallout 4 after just a few hours, so couldn't give fewer fucks about this.

Never thought I'd say this about a new Bethesda game, but I don't give a fuck. Jason Schreier from Kotaku suggests it's some sort of online game.

According to the article on the front page it's an online game of sorts.

    Battle Royale confirmed.

It's still on that creaky old engine by the looks of it. I try to go back to Fallout 4 every now and then but it never sucks me back in like Skyrim does.

If the date in the video is correct, it's set 25 years after the nuclear war, about 60 years before Fallout 1.

If online means co-op, I'm in!

According to Fallout wiki, 2102 is when the Master gets started, Harold starts mutating, Vault City replaces its Overseer with a Council - if it's in the same area, then I guess that matters.

100 Vault dwellers get parachuted into the wasteland, just as the game engine completely bugs out and you have to restart losing 3 hours of progress.

Strange they've skipped elders scrolls so yeah this is either bolted on bits of old stuff, something smaller or totally different to the mainlines as it's not a strict numbered title. Maybe it's more dlc for 4.

I'm super pumped at the thought of listening to the same four disco songs, over and over again for 50 hours

As someone who avoids online shootbanginnaface like it's something which would legitimately reduce my IQ, could someone explain to me what is so special all of a sudden about a "battle royale" mode? I mean, haven't online shooters had a last man standing mode in them by default anyways? And if not, why not? It seems to be the easiest mode possible to implement. Bang, you're dead. Watch different camera views of those left in shooting each other innahead, or fuck off.
Is there more to it than elimination? Or is it just a combination of playing then watching which has captured the "imagination" of the average letsplay CODboy now?

@AboutHalfaStevas Think of CoD but jumping on the open world gaming bandwagon. That's basically it. Maps are huge, lots more players. I played fornight with my 8 year old nephew at the weekend and he loved it. I had 2 games and I thought it was pretty decent, but not for me really as like you, I can't be arsed with online shooters anymore.

Ah, I see, didn't realise there was some open-world shenanigans to it also.
And I've never been arsed with them. Always preferred punching face to shooting it.

Seems to be a lot of jumping to conclusions here. Online (which hasn't even been confirmed) doesn't mean it's going to be a Battle Royale game.

Let's not forgot, Bethesda have actually found The Elder Scrolls Online to be something of a success for them, so I wouldn't out it past them to try and squeeze out a Fallout MMO of some description into the world. Which, if done right, could be pretty awesome.

Just the map basically. Rather than being small with a load of buildings and corridors, they're big and open. Not many other differences. Full of lottery lootboxes and all the usual shite you find in modern games.

Ah, c'mon, Fallout 4 was a GOTY contender.

That, admittedly, is for GOTY 2009, which could be a bit of an issue given the game came out in 2015. But let's not sweat the details.

I don't get it with Fallout. 4 felt so dated on launch and yet Skyrim is seemingly evergreen despite being largely the same game.

Rather than battle royale, I first thought it could be a survival-style thing: Conan, Rust, ARK etc. Moreso if it's the first vault opened, with the occupants setting out and becoming raiders etc.

    With LOADS of microtransactions obviously.

    How'd thon Skyrim/Fallout cosmetics-for-cash thing pan out anyways ?
