my own frustrated ineptness and have never finished one. So easy mode or gtfo, it's mega frustrating too as I love the worlds and art and story. -

I feel that finishing DS1 & DS2 have been some of my bigger achievements as a gamer - it feels so good once you beat a tough boss or can progress. Generally I'm quite shitty player, I'd say. I have abandoned both also many times and then retried again and slowly become better and more patient. So, I'd say that it might be useful to go back to those. But, I would have never completed DS1 if I hadn't done some googling and research for character builds etc. And most of the times someone invaded me, I was plain dead immediately. Perhaps I managed to kill someone a few times.

Even when I have struggled myself with these, I'm not sure if "easy mode" would be a good fit for From games... -

Registered 19 years agoSeeing some of the pre-release videos of this I'm actually worried it'll be too hard for me, despite finishing all the Soulsborne games so far.
I've never really mastered parrying, and not being able to summon other players (except NPCs for some mini bosses apparently), or grind for some levels for the harder bosses is going to make this iffy. -

Just watched the launch trailer. It was so good I've binned my anti Activision morals and ordered it. Can't wait a week or two for cex to get it as it looks epic!! -

Registered 17 years agoI've only played Bloodborne. Demon's was a thing that I just wasn't really all that aware of, and although tempted by the entire Dark trilogy I just haven't. Can't really explain why.
I have Nioh, since release, still unplayed. Again, can't really explain why I haven't installed it, it just never seems to be the right time.
I saw the announcement for this and I just sort of felt that I shouldn't. Looked cool but I have Nioh if I want something in the style (and The Surge, actually, also unplayed). So I've been aware of this but just kind of ignored.
Then, 2 days ago, all of a sudden I got interested. Now I'm kinda itching for it. -

Registered 8 years agoyeah, love the art style, atmosphere and game mechanics of the From games but I never finish any of them as I just find I'm more annoyed than enjoying myself in the end. dark souls 3 was the first From game I didn't even bother getting. If this seems a bit easier from reviews and stuff I'd get it -
If they made it easier then masochists like me would lose interest. -

Registered 9 years agoIt won't be easier. It will be more finely tuned as there won't be a load of specs to build encounters for. I would imagine the folk who are good at parrying will do really well though (that's not me). -

yeah, I know thats sort of half the point of them and rather than being easier Sekiro will probably go all out to be the most punishing of all..
having said that, I didn't really struggle with Nioh which would probably be the closest comparison to a souls game in terms of difficulty and mechanics so.. -
@creepiest-lizard it certainly looks more Nioh and that is a good thing. Parrying will hopefully be a little slicker in this as it seems to be a key mechanic. -

Registered 17 years agoThis reminds me a bit of Ninja Gaiden, movement and speed-wise, so is absolutely on my list. Never gotten along with the Souls games as I found the movement and combat a bit too slow. Only played Dark Souls, though. Bloodborne is on my (Probably Never To Be Played) Backlog Pile.

Registered 6 years agoI don't think it looks anywhere near as sharp or responsive as Nioh or Ninja Gaiden. Still a big step in the right direction (for me) as I struggle with the sluggishness of the Souls games. Looking forward to it. -

Registered 17 years agoIf it's a mix (kinda) of Ninja Gaiden and, say, Bushido Blade I'll be very pleased.
I keep dithering over Nioh (more than enough going on without picking it up) but it can wait with this out so soon.
EDIT: The aesthetic appeals to me more than the Souls series, too. Some of the videos have shown enemies stepping on your sword durng fights which, quite frankly, is cool as fuck.

I find it really weird why anyone interested in combat games wouldn't play Bloodborne and Nioh. They are two of the best games ever. -

I enjoy Ninja Gaiden, Bloodborne, God of War, etc, but have no interest in Devil May Cry for example. -

Registered 17 years agoThere's just not enough time to play everything I want to these days. I mean, I could only play action games but I'd miss out on other stuff I want to play.
I played about an hour of Bloodborne before putting it on my Play Later pile. That really isn't enough time to get used to it but, like I said earlier about DS, the combat and movement was slower than the action games I'm used to. Different strokes and all that. -

Yeah, DMC5 may be the best game ever but, try as I might, I just can't get past the horrendous aesthetic. I feel similarly about Bayonetta tbh.

Registered 6 years agoI'd say DMC is almost a different genre altogether. Not sure why you'd assume someone who loves From stuff should automatically love DMC, and vice versa?
Also, I'm probably getting this. Just so happens I have days booked off for no particular reason (that time of the year, innit). Might as well turn them into new game days. Should I bother with any preorder type shit?

Registered 4 years agoYeah I'm a bit fan of from games but can't stand DMC games. DMC just seems all ott with too much going on the screen at once. Prefer the slower pace of ds games. -
There's a line from Soulsborne through things like Nioh to the likes of DMC and Bayonetta. They're quite different but ultimately they're all 3rd person sword-slashy games from Japan.
