No audio for me ingame (PC version) - fine in the pre-rendered scenes, gone when the game sections begin.

Bit disappointing after the messy FH3 launch, to be honest.

Guess there is no crossplay in the demo? Downloading on PC now and looking forward to release so I can play along with the kids!

All good on PC so far for me. Just a warning at launch re: gfx drivers but it worked anyway.... yes... liking it. A lot.

I think FH3 will be my last in this series.
I'll still play FH4 because I've got gamepass until the end of October but after that I doubt I'll bother.

The demo was impressive and I thought its got me hooked. New location, refined handling but then I got to the point where I could change cars and do speed traps and I didnt want to do any more.

Pc version crashes each time I try It, didn't have many issues with FH3 strangely. I'll play it on Xbox and hope they sort it.

I just end up in the online road trips on the earlier games with a friend and put hundred or more hours into each one, just leave the room when the types of races you don't like get voted in.

I've never been a fan of racing games but it's lovely, is it set on the cotswolds? I live near there and the sights seem so familiar. It's good to see the fosse way windmill, given that playground are so close to it.

I'm loving just driving around, though its a shame so many cars are righthand drive, feels wrong...

I might see if I can get a steering wheel for it, do they work on it?

No audio during the game for me either. I knew there would be something.

On the other hand, can't complain about performance this time. After FH3 was clearly limited by the CPU, this time looks like they have finally worked out how to use multiple cores. The framerate didn't drop once during the benchmark, or during my few minutes playing.

And then I spent five minutes being a brute to a sheep herd.

Turned the game off after this, because no audio means no fun.

Played on Xbox One X. Played the intro sequence initially in the 4K graphics mode, then played again in the performance 60fps mode.

Fantastic. I must admit, I'm not the biggest racing game enthusiast, but the visuals are just stunning and the UK setting is of huge appeal. This is going to be an "essential" purchase without a doubt.

As for the difference between the modes, I've never really had an issue with going between Forza 7 and Forza Horizon 3. The 30fps is smooth enough given it is absolutely rock solid and you soon adjust. However, playing both modes back to back, it's definitely the performance mode for me. The visual difference is minimal when racing at speed and I only really noticed any shimmering from the lower resolution during the cutscenes at normal viewing distance.

Only negative, in the performance mode I did get the framerate to tank at one point. It was rock solid for the most part, but right at the start of one race, with a pile up on the first corner, playing with bumper cam where my view was right in amongst the carnage, I did take a framerate hit. Only briefly though, then back to a full 60fps. Not anything that would worry me and likely to be few and far between instances of this in general gameplay. I imagine Digital Foundry will pick up on these blips, but ultimately consider the performance mode a fantastic, consistent and well implemented addition from what little I've played so far.

Anybody with sound issues, are you using USB audio? I switched to onboard and it worked fine (if a little loud).

    Nailed on purchase for me.

    Sound is fine. Benchmarks!

Benchmark isn't really representative of in-game performance. I had to reduce the resolution to 3600x2025 to smooth out performance when playing but during the benchmark the GPU wasn't stressed nearly as much.

Looks to me like it's taken more inspiration from the lake District. One even is called the Ambleside Sprint and looking at the map it looks likes Lake Windermere.

@b-rk benchmark seemed representative enough in my experience. It peaked at about 90% GPU usage, and the same happened when I played.

I wonder what it would take to be CPU limited... maybe an i3?

I thought the more hilly bit of the map with greystones houses was Yorkshire, like you said Ambleside sounds very northern, but the cotswold stone houses are unmistakable. There's also a town called Broadway, which is in the cotswolds as well. Some of it looks like Warwickshire as well, I guess its like a broad slice of many parts of Britain?

Incidentally, here's the windmill on the fosse, which is right by Leamington (where playground is based)

Trying sound via HDMI of the Nvidia card now, and the demo crashes.

FFS, Microsoft. I haven't had show-stopping bugs like that in any game for a decade.

Had no idea what the setting for this was.. definitely more interested now. Might have to give the demo a shot while I'm unfortunately not able to go to work (damn plumbers).
