There's inventory management and puzzles, sounds a perfect mix of both styles surprisingly. Hopefully it will sell loads so they steer clear of res 6 trash in the future. |

Uh, oh... No? They are perfectly playable with the XB360 controller for me.
Yeah, that is a nice touch.
Still on the fence though: I did try to play both RE4 and RE5 again on the PC recently, but the controls are just such an abomination on both KB&M and on a pad
Horses for courses and all that. -

Registered 12 years agoYup, fair dos. I just find the turning, camera control, and quick time events utterly fucking dog shit and not particularly responsive. Personal opinion, of course but promised we wouldn't turn this into a control schema debate thread, so I'll just shut up.
Really glad to see the UI and inventory stuff is still in there. -

Registered 6 years agoGameplay looks on the money to me, if they keep it like that throughout then I'll be happy. Pockets of action are fine just don't overdo it.
To me Resi was always about that feeling of suspense and dreading what was in the next room. Having a handful of shotgun shells and not wanting to use them because you never knew if something horrible was around the corner. -

Registered 4 years agoHopefully there will be plenty of ammo to get you past a boss, but not nearly enough to kill every enemy. Every encounter should be a matter of life or death. Loved that in the early entries. -

Registered 15 years agoIf that particular camera and control setup worked in RE4 it can work in RE2. It's designed to cope with situations that would spaz out a more regular third person camera when the player enters tight rooms and corridors which RE games tend to have a lot of.
It's either that or going back to the days of shooting off-screen from a fixed camera angle and hoping you're hitting something. I think that particular vein of nostalgia has been sucked dry at this point. I recently played the Devil May Cry HD trilogy and I was left wondering which one is really supposed to be the crap one? They're all crap, games where you're constantly shooting at enemies you can't see because the play style and the camera are completely at odds.
If you don't like the changes, Resident Evil 2 has been ported to practically everything so it's not like you can't just ignore the new version and stick with the original. I have three different consoles that can play RE2 hooked up at the moment, I could easily make that five, plus there's the computer too, that's six. -

Registered 5 years agoI think for the police station first person would be great. Although there are so many characters in RE2 I'm not sure how all the cut scenes would play out.
I'm sure I'll get used to however it works. I hope the numbers of zombies it shows means we'll be running away more than blasting away. I know the original version had a high body count but I think I'd prefer being scared and overwhelmed to coming on like later series badass. -
But will it play in PS VR? -

PS4 needs its PS1 library beefed up and easier to find. -
Played code veronica on dolphin last year. Was absolutely flawless.
Bit of fiddling to get it set up but nothing taxing. -

Registered 13 years agoYeah I'm gonna miss tank controls. Sorry. Judging from the gameplay trailer I'd be amazed if they put the option in there as is the rumour, to me it looks built from the ground up for shoulder cam.
But I'll get used to that, and otherwise it looks fantastic. They've got a great idea about what to do with the remake.
That being said, is it just me or are survival horror games too fucking dark nowadays? I mean on one hand I get the idea but on the other I can barely fucking see what I'm doing and it's just irritating. It's like 90% of the screen is either blackness or Leon's character model -

Registered 5 years agoI think the REmake showed that fixed cameras worked fine without tank controls.
I played it with full movement on all my playthroughs and didn't missed the on the spot turning.
Would absolutely love a bundle of 1,2 and 3. Don't even need a texture polish just stick them back on the PS virtual store to make them available again. -

Registered 13 years agoYeah I've just made a false equivalency with tank controls and fixed cameras. So, is the rumour that there's going to be a tank controls option or a fixed camera option? -

Registered 3 years agoYeah I remember running out of ammo half way through code Veronic and not being able to proceed.
I'll be up for replaying that and get zero too, as I just played through Zombi (u) and that had the same terrific panicky vibe of the old Resi games -

A Nintendo Wii (currently a £15 console) runs the Gamecube version, the original version can run via an emulator on a PC, or on a PS1, PS2 or PS3.
There's also emulation of the N64 and Dreamcast versions if you can't get access to that hardware and the PC version if you can get it working with your setup.
There wouldn't be much point having a standard 'remaster' for current gen systems, all the pre-rendered backgrounds and FMVs are far too low resolution to be usable. -

(although, I could just get my PS1 from my parents I suppose...) -
I'll be running Resi 2 on my gpd win 2 when it arrives. Just have to decide whether to use the psx or cube version. Probably the former as it will be a smaller size. -
Leon looks especially fabulous in this rendition. -

@Duffking I'm old with responsibilities and little free time. Sometimes playing on easy with simplified controls just to have fun reminiscing is nice enough.
