I really don't see why you should have to buy the same console twice in one generation. And if consumers just take it as a given then we are having our pants pulled down.

If it doesn't run well to an acceptable level on the base consoles then capcom are at fault, not the people who've bought the game expecting it to work

How did u all find the controls? They didn't feel great to me. Bit unresponsive and as I said, I felt like I was pulling the character around the screen.

I think I'd rather RE4 style tank controls than this personally.

It runs well for me, it's just not quite as smooth as RE7.

It does look very soft on the 1X. Hard to say if itís the postfx or the res. Will check out the PC version this evening.

This. Although there was a stinger that made me chuckle.

I think they got the tone right and the shiny graphics due make an impact.

Though I'd agreed that the controls feel slightly unresponsive a times mayne some tweaks in the control menu could improve this?

If anything it made me want Silent Hill to be updated in this way.

The demo does look very soft on One X. To my eyes it looks softer than RE7 did on my Xbox One S.

You don't HAVE to buy again at all though - but you do have to accept you'll be getting poorer performance in comparison and start to see compromises on your hardware. It's the flip side of games looking better and better with each year. The baseline is always ticking up.

At the end of every console lifecycle the graphics and tech seem to hit a peak but performance suffers. Like end of last generation on 360 where games like Far Cry 3 were technically amazing for the hardware but ran mostly sub 30.

I actually wish Xbox/Sony gave me the option to upgrade my hardware for the final years of the 360PS3 gen. That generation was the longest in console history and we had to suffer through often poor performance for the latter stages. My experience of many classic gaming moments back then would have been so much better with a more solid 30fps and especially (on 360, some Vsync).

Anyways, RE2... fired it up to download from work so look forward to dipping in tonight. Loved the original back in the day.

Problem with me wanting to upgrade my PS4 is that it don't play no 4K blu-rays. So fuck that shit.

And what I'm getting that is the upgrade should be a complete package, and not just some sub par graphical/framerate enhancement.

Bah, didn't finish the demo because I was being an idiot. Enjoyed it though, even if aiming felt a bit weird. Couldn't tell if it was acceleration or something else, but I was also rushing a bit, given it's a one and done thing.

Had a go earlier. Was surprised to find that I could play it again a second time

The I realised that it was because I "completed" it before the 30 minute time limit. Only let me play about 5 minutes second time around before it ended

It seems really good, you can tell it's the same engine as RE7 as I've been playing that quite recently as felt at home right away. Aiming was spot on, I was headshotting the enemies easily from the get go

It was fine on my base PS4 too, no performance issues at all

Not reading too much into technical difficulties or issues at this point. The demo is the same as the E3 demo so not representative of the final release.

My first experience of Resident evil started with 4 so having never played the original games this is all new to me.

Looked OK on the base xbox one but like others have said it has a soft look to it. I didn't complete the demo but I do intend on trying the PS4 version later. I should probably get back on Resi 7 at some point to.

Tried the PC demo too, runs fine on my system at all High settings on 1080p60. Could probably select even bigger textures given my 8GBs card, but those are plenty good already.

The biggest issue I noticed is a strange behavior for screenspace reflection.

    https://imgur.com/uO63mT4

Could still be fixed for the final game, but if not, it's better to disable it entirely.

The only other problem, which you can notice in that picture too, is that the AA options are all pretty bad. SMAA (the one I selected) is nearly useless, while FXAA/TAA makes everything look way too soft. I bet that's what the Xbox version is using.

I panicked, ran around in circles, used all my bullets up and got eaten. My classic resi play style.

I'm glad I'm not such a graphics and resolution perv that they ever ruin my experience of a game

    @Malek86

Could use reshade to either inject some better post aa or a hint of sharpening.

    Edit

Combine with a vsr res. If youíre at 1080p 1440p or even higher should be easily doable.
