Was out bowling with the family yesterday and I had a go on TimeCrisis 5 in the arcade afterwards. The Boy was very interested. I told him that I had several similar games at home on the Wii that he could play. However, I looked this morning and Dead Space Extraction and RE Umbrella Chronicles are both cert 18. RE Darkside Chronicles is a 15. I didn't look at HotD Overkill, but it's so full of swearing I'm not keen on him playing. (Although he's heard most language already, based on him getting in trouble at school for calling some first years 'fucking idiots'! )Were there any other on-rails/lightun shooter games on Wii/WiiU that might work for a 10 y/o? |

Registered 5 years agoThere is HotD 2 & 3 Collection, but that probably had some level of swearing in, too. Ghost Squad comes to mind, but I never played that one. Links Crossbow training is a very cheap alternative. You can get that with the zapper add-on for cheap.
Sin and Punishment: Successor of the Skies is great, but has a third person element to it and its pretty hard! -

Registered 16 years agoI can think of a few, but none of them very good:
Link's Crossbow Training (ok, but very simplistic)
Chicken Shoot (awful)
Dragon Quest: Swords (not bad, but more about melee combat than shooting)
The go-to place for rail shooters is, of course, VR

Registered 20 years agoAhh, I will check out Link's Crossbow Training.
And I always kind of fancied HotD 2&3 for myself.
Thanks all.

Registered 18 years agoGhost Squad is amazing, and fairly similar to Time Crisis. I prefer it to the HOTD games .gif)
If arcade shooters are his thing, there's also the Gunblade & LA Machineguns double pack, which I haven't got and need to get.gif)

Registered 16 years agoActually, Rayman: Raving Rabbits had a few rail-shooter levels, which were fairly decent. You have to work through a fair bit of the other content to unlock them, though. -

Registered 20 years agoDarkisde Chronicles was awesome!
A lot of people got annoyed by the shaky visuals (that were part of the game) in places. But once you got past that it was a great intro to parts of the RE story that I'd never seen.
Managed to S-rank the entire game. /buffs nails -

Yeah, but the voice acting makes it very suited to 10 years olds.

All aside, I must admit I don't remember any swearing in HOD1/2/3. Lots of flying limbs, but they are zombies so it's okay. -
Ghost Squad is super cheap, I've seen copies for as little as 50p.
Japan got a Wiiware port of Starblade for the Wii, of course the eShop is closed now, but if you want to play it there are ways.
Also check out:
Sin and Punishment Star Successor (the original was on the Virtual Console too)
House of the Dead Overkill
530 Eco Shooter (Wiiware)
Pokémon Snap (Virtual Console)
Resident Evil Chronicles games (Umbrella Chronicles is a pain, too many motion control quicktime events)
There are loads of rail shooters on Wiiware but in terms of quality, like the vast majority of Wiiware... Not so good.
