Did just that, I'll gloss over the details of why, but it was a forced decision to upgrade.
Buy Japanese. Done.
Pick up my Toyota Auris (excel spec) next week -

Yep. Got a decent discount (15%) as the model is being replaced next year, and as I will likely keep it for a decade or thereabouts, it made the most sense to me given there's a battery with a life expectancy.

Registered 15 years agoThey finally came for my Octavia VRS. Can't argue with 5 months for free though.
No idea what I'm getting next. Tempted to get another of them but for some reason the prices have gone nuts lately. Maybe a Kodiaq instead (also much more than they were).
Possibly wait for the new Evoque. -

Can't you get another Octavia? -

I can, but for the same model as what I had, I'd be looking at £110 extra a month, which seems nuts.

Registered 12 years agoIf have a Leon FR with the same engine as the VRS, it’s nice. -

Registered 16 years agoThat's just happened to one of my bros. The two year deal on his Audi A4 has just run out and the leasing company are asking for extra 200 quid for more or less the same car. -

Registered 12 years agoConfiguring a car for leasing is something else. Like 18” rims can “inflate” the price because you”ll need more expensive tires. Also, with audi almost everything is an option. -

Registered 15 years agoThat's why the best lease cars are things like Kias, where you can buy the models that have virtually all of the extras on them.
Otherwise you're generally paying the entire price of the extra, divided by the time you have the car for. Some don't work quite that way (packages usually), but most of the time they do. -

Registered 16 years agoEvoques are bloody tiny inside, smaller back seats and boot than a 1 Series. Also goes without saying, don’t buy a new car without checking what coast2coast offer discount wise, most dealers will aim to beat it -
Do the reasonable thing and get a TVR -

I'm sure they're popular with the seniors, but I imagine people who bought performance cars that do 20mpg back when fuel and road tax were half the price it is now, basically sit in traffic every mile they do in town, and every motorway has cameras so that 150mph car never sees the dial get anywhere close, are probably looking at cars like these too.

Ideally I'd have gotten a Lexus, but again, it'll be wasted on a londoner that would rather be using his MT-09

Can't agree with you more. My FN2 Civic was the love of my life, but I was getting progressively envious of newer BASIC cars with adaptive cruise, Bluetooth integration, Internet-assisted Satnav with traffic updates, and so on.

Shit's moved on a lot in the last 10 years, my old girl was a relic, even if it was the 'GT' version back then :/
