Registered 9 years agoYeah, it's a bit weird that the button isn't there in mobile view, but it's easy enough to switch. Clearly it's a feature they're saving for portable mode. -

Yahtzee - this is exactly how I feel about it as well. As soon as I turn it off I feel much better / alive.
Yeah it is fairly easy to just not engage with social media (which is the worst human invention of all time) at all and live life happily ever after. All it seems to do from my perspective is facilitate and boost narcissistic behaviour, all the rest of it is purely a result of that. -

I'm in mobile view and if I click on a username there's an ignore button on their profile. Am I the only one?

Registered 15 years agoWe're going to run out of words!!!
That honestly might be the stupidest thing I've read on this forum, and that's some benchmark. I reckon more new words get created a day than get killed off in a year. Absolutely amazing comment. -

Registered 8 years agoWhat are words worth?
What are words worth? Words
Words in papers, words in books
Words on TV, words for crooks
Words of comfort, words of peace
Words to make the fighting cease
Words to tell you what to do
Words are working hard for you
Eat your words but don't go hungry
Words have always nearly hung me
Ram sam sam, a ram sam sam
Guli guli guli guli guli ram sam sam
Haykayay yipi yaykayé
Ahou ahou a nikichi
What are words worth?
What are words worth? Words
Words of nuance, words of skill
And words of romance are a thrill
Words are stupid, words are fun
Words can put you on the run
Mots pressé, Mots sensé
Mots qui disent la verité
Mots maudits, mots mentis
Mots qui manquent le fruit d'esprit
Ram sam sam, a ram sam sam
Guli guli guli guli guli ram sam sam
Haykayay… -

Registered 16 years agoBack slightly on topic..... Netflix recommended I watch Little Britain and Come Fly With Me last night and, yeah, I'm not 100% sure they would get made anymore.
Certainly there would probably be a bit less blacking up... -

I think as long as you're open to the idea that none of us are perfect, and we can all be and do better, then you're ok. I'm sure there's stuff I've said on here and elsewhere that was sexist, racist or homophobic. Maybe stuff I've said this year. I accept that and I'm trying harder to understand other people's perspective on what I've said that could be harmful.
I think we're all going to be suddenly Jim Davidson, some day, to some degree.
Unless we want to pretend we're the first generation ever to grow up with a set of norms and expectations that subsequent generations are *never* going to look at with some degree of disapproval. Let's face it, we're not that special. So yeah, things which we thought are normal because we grew up with them are going to become Problematic.
It's the point at which you dismiss the idea that your views and behaviours need to constantly progress that you become Jim Davidson. -

Registered 18 years agoThe Little Britain stuff is bizarre given how recent it is. At the time I don't think I gave a lot of thought to it but in retrospect it's pretty awful.
David Walliams seems to be made of teflon, his whole "I am so camp! Isn't being gay funny!" act has been going on for years and no one seems to pull him up on it. -

It just shows you the pace of change right now. Friends is another one that is suddenly looking very dated in terms of representation of gay people. I was watching Peep Show S1 the other day and that's got a few bits as well.
