Asian people haven't come out well in many Hollywood films... I'm thinking Short Circuit 2 right now but there's countless others.

The film Pretty Baby wouldn't get filmed. Child prostitution and and under age nudity.

Is that with Brooke Shields or am I thinking of something else? There’s a famously dodgy film with her as a 12 year old seductress.

    That's the one.

Melanie Griffiths' nude scenes in Night Moves when she was 17 wouldn't fly either.

The entirety of Year of the Dragon is basically Oliver Stone and Michael Cimino I Hate Asians Me Do.

There's a Robert Duvall film called Badge 373 where he's a comedy racist cop (based on Eddie Egan of The French Connection fame) you're supposed to root for and it's all played for laughs. But hey whaddya gonna do, it was the 70s etc. It doesn't even try for the cynicism/rawness of The French Connection, it's just straight-up racial.

I think that was just cringe af in terms of a line in a Hollywood movie. Like the laminated Romeo & Juliet law in the pocket in that Transformers movie

No, nothing wrong with consensual sex. It's more that the princess's only reason for existing within the film was to reward the male protagonist with anal sex. No questions asked.

Trying really hard to come uo with a way "Your Princess is in another castle" can be changed to fit the word "asshole" in there, but it's not forthcoming.

    What a bum note.

It's funny that in a movie where Colin Firth brutally murders an entire church congregation in extreme gory detail (they were racist hicks so deserved it) the bit that seems to cause the most revulsion is a women offering up her back passage to her saviour.

@minky-kong Again, not the act of anal sex that was repellent but the way that it was offered up as a prize for her male saviour.

The whole film was shit to be honest. The scene you mention was just a fantasy for people who were pissed off by the Westborough Baptist church... and when was the last time anyone thought about them? Funny how people tend to fuck of if you don't pay them any attention.

The rapey love scene in Blade Runner feels quite icky these days.
It might make for uncomfortable viewing, but totally in context with the story though.

Not sure if you can justify these things like that though...
Deckard's actions make sense, assuming he's a dick, or a replicant, or a replicant who is a dick, but problem with that blade runner scene is that
due to the way it's shot, and especially due to the music chosen to accompany it, it feels Iike it's trying to portray that scene as some kind of romantic moment, instead of a well-rapey moment.

This one gets brought up all the time, but Grease has aged really badly in terms of the message it sends to young women, strongly emphasising the importance of social conformity, bowing to peer pressure and being conventionally beautiful.
Also it's completely fine for dodgy grown men in a gang to hang around school girls for romantic adventures.

They should remake and set it in Rotherham.

Bit off topic, but on an epic drunken youtube odyssey the other day I came across Fountains of Wayne's "Stacey's Mom" which I haven't seen since when it was inexplicably on TV a lot. Holy fucking hell that video is wrong.

Leon is very weird if you watch it nowadays. I know they edited out the worst stuff, but it's pretty hard to watch with modern eyes.

Plus Besson is currently alleged to have done a Weinstein so there's that too.

Meh, in 50 years when social values have changed again our kids will have the same discussion.
Look at how they treated robots in 2018! (when looking at boston dynamics videos).

In 50 years time everyone will be grey, shaved and sexless. Either that or the backlash will take us the other way and we'll be back in the 40's.

Isn't the whole point of that just a piss take of Bond? Every Bond film ends with him saving the world and getting the girl. This just cast a light on that.

I thought it was genuinely funny.

Doesn't Harrison SCORED also slap a girl around in one of the Indiana Jones films?

Thinking about it, I think 80s films were a lot more casually and mainstream gruesome than today. Watch the original Robocop for example - it's quite shocking.

Yup, was just thinking about this the other day, Aliens was one of my favourite films as a kid. If I’d show to my brothers kid (she’s 11) she’d probably need to talk to a psychologist for weeks.
