Registered 14 years agoI have been to a few different areas now. Not sure how many hours because it seems like the system doesnt let you properly pause the game and I have left the game in the background. After being initially very sceptical I think this is a well rounded and immersive game and I am really enjoying it. -

Approaching 30 hours and a definite contender with Ni No Kuni 2 for my game of the year still, great stuff. -
Really been enjoying this. Just got to the post game stuff and it's really not the usual fluff. Its really good, as interesting as anything in the main game. -

Registered 9 years ago@Spectral yeah I read in a few places that the post game stuff is supposed to be as good as if not better than the main game!
How many hours did it take you to beat the game itself? -
@Humperfunk Probably around 90 but I played a good chunk of it with the draconian option for tougher enemies turned on. But it ended up too unbalanced, it made the normal fights more fun, but bosses were just brutal. It all went much faster once I turned that off. I also didn't just mainline the story, I explored every nook and cranny I could find.
Edit: Thinking about it a good few hours of that were just in the Casino while listening to podcasts too.

Registered 9 years agoGot a couple of hours in last night and have just got the blue orb from Sniflheim, wahey!
I think I know where to go next, I'm in the area it's told me to but now a massive field with various places but no further guidance! Time to explore me thinks.
The game has reminded me of how when playing DQVIII all those years ago, how upsetting it is when a metal slime does a runner, I want that xp

Registered 9 years agoApproaching the 50 hour mark now - quite odd as most JRPGs that I love are around the 45 hour mark and I've surpassed that and feel like I've got absolutely ages to go, but am loving it.
Absolutely no chance I'll finish it before RDR2 next week but actually considering fucking that off to continue with this, it's that good. -
I'm about 24 hours in now, just left the Casino town (after watching slot machine reels spin for a while)
Once RDR2 is out I'll probably play it less frequently, but having the plot summaries is good, feels like a game you could play for an hour or two a week and not get lost -

Registered 9 years agoBarely been able to play anything over the last two weeks, but after a couple of hours of RDR2 I've fucked it off to get straight back onto this. Finally got over the 50 hour mark last night doing another boss, what a game! -

Registered 15 years agoOnly DQ game I've played was 9 (I think?) on 3DS, which I loved. Got so much on the go right now however that I'm going to wait until this is out on Switch and play it then.
Will probably be another year or so, but I love having a massive RPG on a handheld. -

Registered 13 years agoNi No Kuni down and I have this sitting on my shelf, beckoning, winking at me coyly...
But can I do two JRPGs in a row? Next to it is Far Cry 5 and God of War, both of which would be good palette cleansers before jumping into the world, but fuck me I just want to play DQ! -

Is the Switch version out yet? I need it to work on the go, but the PC version is too bitchin for my Win 2 it seems -

Registered 16 years ago@Armoured_Bear Been out for a few weeks now. I wouldn't prioritise it over Xenoblade 2 or Persona 5, though. DQXI is a very old fashioned game. As a big, fuzzy JRPG comfort blanket, it gets the job done with style, but Persona 5 in particular is on a whole different level. -
It's one of the few games I've played recently that works really well in remote play with the Vita, doesn't require shoulder or stick presses, doesn't matter too much if there's a bit of sync issues
Really nice when the TV is being used -

Urgh, trying to do this, in about three hours of grinding I have managed to get them to pep up four times, and twice it gave me metal slimes (of which two immediately run off), the other two it gave me robots.

@Humperfunk When one of the characters peps up but the other aren't switch them out of the party, the pep wont degrade. Then move them all back in when everyone needed is pep'd.
As for them fleeing, go for things with multiple hits and or increased crit chance.

Registered 9 years agoCheers - I was swapping out so all good there, just that Jade was taking forever to get pepped!
Got it to work a couple of times, including just now getting a King slime after also pepping Hallelujah so got almost 300k XP and went from 51 to 55, bosh!
Also now unlocked a secret panel that should get Jade to pep up quicker.
Just hit the 60 hour mark as well, what a game. -

Registered 9 years agoI believe I am at the final dungeon before beating the game (before the post credits stuff of course), hopefully will get some time tonight to get through that!
Definitely think it's surpassed Ni No Kuni 2 as my game of the year, only thing I can see beating this is the Spyro remake - really can't be arsed with Red Dead Redemption 2 still so think that'll be on the shelf for a few months. -

The post credits thing is weird, it's really not just some tacked on extra stuff, its more like an entire 3rd of the game.
