@Spectral Yeah seen a load of places refer to it as "Act 3" so no way I'm stopping here. Just beaten Act 2 and the credits are rolling as I type.

Really is up there with the best JRPGs I have played, DQVIII is a masterpiece and this surpasses it.

Hammering this now, 70 hours past and just rebuilt Cobblestone and have the armour for the whale so just need to do the last trials and then it's the end game.

Passed my exam yesterday too so now got nothing to do except boozing and PS pretty much for a month, wahoo! Hopefully should get this polished off this week before Spyro on Tuesday, bang!

Really nice game. I would have preferred tougher puzzles. End fight didn't feel tough, I thought the celestial serpent that escaped from the ice was tougher. Overall an excellent game.

@Bloodastral Haha yeah he was a right bastard, think that was the first time I properly thought "bollocks, time to grind!"

I've got three of the party to level 99 now with the rest hovering around the late 90s so one or two more battles against a king metal slime will get those maxed. Then last thing for me to do (that I want to, a few other things like the casino etc I can't be arsed with) is to beat the final boss so think I may have this finished tonight.

By far my game of the year. Only games I can see maybe beating it now are the Spyro remake or Hitman 2.

Got to this yesterday, followed quickly by my second game over

Quite like the difficulty of Boss fights at this point of the game, nice that you don't have to fight regular enemies too much (usually only try to fight each new one that appears and avoid the rest), think i wouldn't have the patience for random battles in this!

Went pub, but got 15 minutes in before bed and everyone level 99, wallop!

Saturday I shall finish this magnificent game.

Burned all of my savings and took a few trips to the fun sized forge to get my party better equipped and had another crack at the celestial serpent, think I'm close to the end of Act 2 now

Finished after 76 hours and no question my front runner for game of the year. Absolutely magnificent.

Ok, so with Tokyo Xanadu EX+ out of the way, I've moved onto this as my next warm, fuzzy Sunday afternoon JRPG. Seems good so far - like the style and visuals - but I'm finding the gap between save-points a bit alarming. Do they get more frequent? Or is there some kind of quicksave option I'm missing out on?

Golly this is rather good isn't it?

I thought it was good, until I got to the Mermaid quest, and then the game elevated to the next level.

Then just reached the mid point.

Wow. They really have gone epic on this one. And I can't get over how beautiful the game is. The characters and the world are just so vibrant and fun.

Started this last week and just got past the guard in downtown Heliodor with a sneaky forged letter 😁. Lovely looking game, bursting with colour and chirpy music.

I played like 2 or 3 hours and really enjoyed my time but with the switch version coming out in about 7 months time, I can wait.

Same, thought the Switch trailer looked amazing. Dunno what the differences are between PC and Switch tho. Assuming 4K looks ace.

There's a notable downgrade between Switch and PS4, but it still looks very nice on Switch. That's the version I'm holding out for, too.

Yeah I'm waiting for the Switch version too. Looks like a nice game to be able to dip in and out of on the go.

60fps would be nice but I'd prefer to be able to play it on the train...

Also you get extra stuff like Japanese voice acting and new quests and whatnot. I find the Western voice acting in these games is often a bit cringe, so that definitely appeals...

@THFourteen ah never played that, sadly.

Also apparently you get orchestral music with the Switch version, have seen lots of people weren't too happy with the 'traditional' rpg style music it first shipped with, so that's nice too..

Possibly be patched into the PS4, I still have this wrapped from Xmas. Iím struggling with the fact Iíll never be able to play through it all. So Iím loathe to open it just to abandon it at some point. Iím such an idiot.

I'm not sure about the voice acting, but I love three English translations in Dragon Quest games. They're all amazing.

I've been playing the (generous) Switch demo of this. I didn't expect it to hold my attention, but oddly, the traditional and relatively simple gameplay combined with a very nice looking world has kept me coming back for 3 nights. It's like gaming comfort food and really suits handheld play.

Played the demo for around 10 hrs and still not even completed it. Crazy to think you can get 4 party members in a demo. It has a lot of charm, the orchestral music swells and uplifts and the gameplay is familiar but very welcome. I pre ordered it with no hesitation.
