Registered 10 years agoSitting on the coast with the noise of the seagulls, I’m about to tuck into a late breakfast of salmon roe, marinated salmon and salmon flakes on rice with miso soup etc.
God I love Japan. -

Registered 18 years agoOdaiba is cool! I keep meaning to go to the big Autobacs there to get something for my dad as it’s super huge.
Did you go to Joypolis? I think they might still have the “full size” Initial D game where you play in an actual car. They’ve been doing that since at least Sega Touring Car. Bit expensive for a solo visit maybe.
Edit: also how much Gunpla did you buy?

Registered 18 years agoNice. I've never been there in the evening either.
The Gunpla shop at the top of the shopping centre is great. You know you want to buy loads of it. -

Registered 17 years agoJoypolis is a great shout, especially if you like your racing or rhythm games. .gif)
I made the mistake of going up on the ferris wheel in Palette Town on a really windy day. Never felt such an extended period of genuine panic and fear for my life!!! -

Registered 12 years agoI had a bit of a quick look in Joypolis. Quick, because I know I'd have come out flat broke otherwise. They had a video of the Yakuza 3 remaster playing at the entrance. High Def Rikiya ;_;
I took a few shots of the Gundam just because it was so fucking nutty.

Also, I took the Yurikamome line to get to Odaiba, which was a nice little ride. Reminded me of the DLR a bit. Hyperdia is absolutely worth it's weight in gold! -

Registered 12 years agoOh, and yeah, the Gundam store in Diver City is amazing. Didn't buy anything though - I've not actually bought anything yet, as I have limited bag space to consider. Unless I buy another bag to check in...
And going on the ferris wheel today would have been a baaaad idea
I'm amazed it was still running, honestly. -

If you don't go on the Ferris wheel today you are not hardcore.

Registered 17 years ago@Ror fairly regularly that Gundam does a little show. Don’t walk off without seeing it. It’s not amazing, but it is worth seeing. Unless you’ve already missed it and left in which case it’s shit and you shouldn’t think about it. -

Registered 12 years agoI think it does a thing on the hour. I walked past it three or four times today, each time around ten minutes past the hour...
And its 1:19am now

Registered 15 years ago@uiruki Possibly Mother, I would have to dig and see if I have any details. I remember it was a night where I hadn't actually booked a hotel of any type and ended up booking a karaoke room in the end. No other foreigners there when I went, just a Japanese crowd so had a mix of Japanese and English conversations. I had initially tried to find another rock bar somewhere else but got there as it was closing so headed for that one. As I say, I remember my Osaka haunts a bit more as I always spend a lot more time there when I am in Japan. A quick Google image search of 'Mother' makes it a possibility still. -

Registered 18 years agoI’ve been woken up by a few before. Once I got woken up by an alert for an incoming big earthquake that was a false alarm. Not sure what was worse, the false alarm or the fact I just stayed in bed like a big lemon and probably would have been owned by a big piece of falling rubble or the bed from the apartment upstairs. -

We had an earthquake one night, which did wake us up. I could see the windows wobble wildly. I asked out loud “what is it?” and my (now) sleepaholic wife answered: “just an earthquake, go back to sleep” -

Poor old Japan has had an absolute hammering, Typhoons, landslides and now an earthquake. Surely Godzilla is next. -
