Only Axel and Blaze? Hopefully Skate is unlockable.

Canít really see enough of it but yeah, not loving the art style. Hopefully you can switch like other games.

Can't see you being able to switch as this is a new game rather than a HD remake or whatever they're called now.

Monster Boy was effectively a new game as well afaik. The pixel art wasnít the original pixel art (again, afaik).

It was literally a shot for shot remake so to speak. It's why you can switch between the two instantly without it interrupting the gameplay. Good as well.

@You-can-call-me-kal Monster boy was EXACTLY the same game, matching frame for frame to the original (hence why you could switch on the fly between the new art style and old).

It just had a new graphics overlay and revamped soundtrack.

Having actually watched the video now, the graphics look fine. A billion times better than Double Dragon Neon at any rate.

No I understand that. My understanding though is it was coded from scratch. So if there can be a pixel version of that thereís no reason why they couldnít do it for this.

Admittedly my understand of coding is limited so prepared to be wrong on this.

It looks too cartoony. Needs more darkness and neon.

Definitely needs more neon, I would be massively surprised if neon doesn't make an appearance in a level. It's Streets of Rage FFS.

I was always more of a katana blade fan. It was great for cheesing R.Bear.

Will I still be able to call the police car rocket attack by mistake?

Lol, sooo many times I've done that. Usually the first time in playing in ages.

I quite like how it looks but I could be biased by my fondness for the Wonder Boy remaster

Just looked at the site as I would very much like this on Switch. Is it normal for a game to have a 'reveal' yet the platforms TBC?

There's a Nintendo indies event thing tomorrow. Chances are it'll appear there.

I'm not a huge fan of that art style. Axel looks like he's dined out on one too many chicken in a dustbin.

I don't hate the art style. I'm more concerned that the attacks seem to lack impact. The worrying thing is there's justification for it as SOR3 went for a more Konami style and ditched the freeze frames and severely dialled down the sound effects when a hit landed. I'm pretty sure even SOR Remake defaults to this style but has the option for you to change it to resemble SOR2?

Strange that EG didn't report this news; I've only just found out.

I don't like the new at style. It adds nothing. They should have kept the graphics style the same as the originals and added new interesting innovations, a la Sonic Mania.

For example, they could add a huge mutant boss who's taller than the screen. You have to attack his feet and shins, whilst avoiding being trodden on, until he drops to his knees then kick him in the face and arms to finish him.

There are a lot of things you could do if you're not limited by the Megadrive hardware, but it would all be more impressive and nostalgic if it was in keeping with the original art style.

I did that so often that I thought it was the opening animation.

I hope they do justice to this old gem. It's time for the new generation to know some proper old-school games!!!

    Bring up the nostalgia!

Can't say I'm keen on the art style, but I will never complain about more Streets of Rage. /where the hell is Skate??
