Can't see a thread on this.

Reviews are coming in fairly hot ahead of today's release. Who's getting?

I never played theme hospital (shame on me) as I never had a pc or ps1 at that time.
Fancy giving this a go now it's coming out with decent reviews but I rarely get the time to dedicate hours and days to one game at a time, looks like the team deserve some support though (although I assume there's a rabid fan base for this)
What's your thoughts on the game?

I'm guessing console releases will follow but kb+m is probably
best way, although console controls do seem to be getting better. I wouldn't be surprised if its streamlined enough already with this in mind.

The videos that have been popping up in Facebook, Instagram etc look pretty good, but I'd assumed it was just going to be another Dungeon Keeper 'in name only, micro transaction filled' debacle. Is that not the case?

If it lives up to the promise of what I've seen so far it should be a lot of fun

Is Theme Hospital still free on Origin? You should play it. It looks like it's made of lego nowadays but the gameplay holds up terrifically

I do have the free origin version, just never got around to it. Figured it may have aged a bit, whereas this looks lovely and shiny and more modern.

More like War of the Overworld than mobile DK, it would seem.

Will fire up my copy when I get home from working in a real hospital, it's a proper game nothing like that terrible microtransactional Dungeon Keeper mess.

I'll get it down the road. Theme Park and Hospital, along with Command and Conquer were my gateway drugs into PC gaming back in the day. Theme Hospital still hold up now, I just hope they keep it relatively accessible. Part of the lure of TH was it's simplicity.

    Hospital administrator is cheating

This is why I’m trying to resist the temptation to order it. I’d really like to play it (never played the original and work in a real hospital) but it’ll likely be a lot cheaper in 6 months or so.

I bought my ol' Mum a copy for £19 or so, so even at launch it's hardly a bank breaker.

Made by much of the original team, and even though their panel at Rezzed in April was excruciating to watch they really were very enthused by what they were making and it did get me excited for this release.

Will it be one of my ten games this year? Probably not. BUT MAYBE!

Quick question I can't work out from the reviews - does this have the humour of the old Theme Hospital?

For me, a big part of the charm of the original was the sheer silliness of managing competing outbreaks of Bloaty Head, Slack Tongue and The Squits.

Edit: Never mind, a bit more googling seems to show that it does. Tempting.

Yeah very funny, so says mac at worth a buy.

Installed the original and played it for an hour or so, good fun but a bit crusty round the edges which is to be expected. Not being able to rotate mean placing things can be a bit frustrating and the ui is a tad overstretched so couldn't see a way to exit the game lol. Probably could be tinkered with I guess, still a decent game though.

Thing is will I get the game time out of it or the new one.
    Highly tempted to but though.

I've watched a few tubers play it. It looks pretty but it seems to lack any depth. The fail conditions are a little too forgiving and I don't see how its going to continue being fun ib the long term. So I'm going wait for reviews and community feedback before investing in it.

Also, the developers are using it to release a whole plaform of management games in the same ecosystem/neighbourhood iirc. I.e. your hospital is based in town, in future games/dlc they want to have a... I dunno.. theme police station maybe or forestation whatever in the same place. Might be cool,

Watching a stream on twitch having come straight from theme hospital (and I appreciate it's ancient now) but it's much more fluid, clearly a total homage to it but looks much better controls etc.

I've only played an hour or so, but have found it a pleasant experience. There's a few good gags around, especially for the announcer, but for me the funniest bit has been a woman composedly started going on her break, then sprinting for the loo.

I have the willpower of a wet paper bag... bought!

Loved Theme Hospital, if even a shadow of that will be great.

Yep had to jump on this, it will be a while before it's that price again I reckon. Fair enough it may be regularly discounted but not by 45% or whatever it is.

This is pretty good. Nice gameplay flow, decent art style, similar sense of humour to the original.

My one complaint is the UI, which feels a bit mobile-ish.

Yes but it did look like a game that shouldn't be too hard to read the text on my tv which is where I game, so kind of a bonus for me.

    @OnlyJoeKing

A cursory glance suggests the splash screen and intro movie are zoomed in (but fullscreen), the game itself seems to be fine, fills the whole screen and the UI is in the corners.

    I accept no liability.

@neems Cheers! I'm very tempted to pull the trigger on this. Can only have 2 more games this year thanks to the 10 game challenge, so it's a big call...

I'll pass your details to my legal team in case I go for it ;)

Oh great, 2 minutes past 8 and I've missed the offer. "finishes at 9pm" my fucking ass!

Oh well, silver linings, two games left this year it is...

Having played a lot of theme hospital, some in the last year, this is pretty much the same game with updated graphics and controls.

It's fairly simple to get 1 star on the early levels but getting 2 or 3 requires some skill.

Not sure on the level of variation of diseases so far, I've seen quite a few, it seems like there's a lot as long as they keep getting added to as I progress.

There's nothing mobile ish about the interface I can see other than it uses big buttons. TH did similar. The only real complaint is there's not much innovation going on.
