    What is it?

The UEFA Nations League is a new international tournament. England will go up against other European nations in a league format for the chance to compete in the Final Four summer showpiece in 2019, where the winner will be crowned the Nations League champion.

In a bid to improve the quality of international football and reduce the number of meaningless friendlies, UEFA - which has been planning the competition since 2011 - has devised a new format to add excitement and competition to country clashes.

    How it works

There will be 55 teams involved, split into four leagues (A, B, C and D) based on their UEFA ranking at the end of the 2018 World Cup Qualifiers.

Within those four leagues, teams will be split again into groups, which will be made up of either three or four teams.

Within each league, four teams will be promoted at the end of the cycle, while four teams will be relegated. They will then play at their new level in the next competition, which starts in 2020.

The winners of the four groups in League A will qualify for the Final Four competition.

How have the groups been divided?

    Full League A draw

    Group 1: Germany, France, Netherlands

    Group 2: Belgium, Switzerland, Iceland

    Group 3: Portugal, Italy, Poland

    Group 4: Spain, England, Croatia

    Full League B draw

Group 1: Slovakia, Ukraine, Czech Republic

    Group 2: Russia, Sweden, Turkey

Group 3: Austria, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Northern Ireland

Group 4: Wales, Republic of Ireland, Denmark

    Full League C draw

    Group 1: Scotland, Albania, Israel

Group 2: Hungary, Greece, Finland, Estonia

Group 3: Slovenia, Norway, Bulgaria, Cyprus

Group 4: Romania, Serbia, Montenegro, Lithuania

    Full League D draw

Group 1: Georgia, Latvia, Kazakhstan, Andorra

Group 2: Belarus, Luxembourg, Moldova, San Marino

Group 3: Azerbaijan, Faroe Islands, Malta, Kosovo

Group 4: FYR Macedonia, Armenia, Liechtenstein, Gibraltar

When will the Nations League take place?

    Matchday 1: September 6-9, 2018
    Matchday 2: September 9-11, 2018
    Matchday 3: October 11-13, 2018
    Matchday 4: October 14-16, 2018
    Matchday 5: November 15-17, 2018
    Matchday 6: November 18-20, 2018
    Finals: June 5-9, 2019

    Results so far

    Kazakhstan 0 2 Georgia
    Armenia 2 1 Liechtenstein
    Czech Republic 1 2Ukraine
    Germany 0 0 France
    Gibraltar 0 2 Macedonia
    Latvia 0 0 Andorra
    Norway 2 0 Cyprus
    Slovenia 1 2 Bulgaria
Wales 4 1 Republic of Ireland
    Azerbaijan 0 0 Kosovo
    Albania 1 0 Israel
    Faroe Islands 3 1 Malta
    Italy 1 1 Poland
    Lithuania 0 1 Serbia
    Romania 0 0 Montenegro
    Turkey 1 2 Russia
Northern Ireland 1 2 Bosnia and Herzegovina
    Belarus5 0 San Marino
    Finland 1 0 Hungary
    Switzerland 6 0 Iceland

Nice idea as friendlies were really pointless.

    Can't see England doing well.

I feel for him. Looked like he got knocked out in mid air and then landed awkwardly. Hopefully just a couple of weeks of concussion protocol rather than anything more serious (not that a concussion isnít serious...)

Radford should have scored there. Either corner, not straight at De Gea.

Donít understand why Southgate is being so risk averse. What was the point in dier replacing Henderson for example?

Never a foul, De Gea should be ashamed. Same with that excellent Stones challenge, ref got that wrong too.

Terrible refereeing there. Bit odd watching England and not seeing that reviewed by VAR. Besides, the ref and goal line assistant looked like they knew they'd made a mistake.

Thought England were good though. Couple of sloppy errors in first half aside, they passed it well throughout, kept going and made chances.

First time I've watched a friendly in years and it was good.

Annoyed to find it was on sky. Aren't friendlies usually on freeview? Seems like just another bullshit way to monetise football.

@OnlyJoeKing not anymore. Sky has the rights to all friendlies and the nations league games.

ITV and Sky share the rights for the Euro 2020 and World Corruption 2022 qualifiers, assuming they continue as in the past then ITV will show the home qualifiers and Sky the away.

Why did Scotland play a friendly yesterday when they're playing on Monday? Did they want to go into it freshly dicked

Itís a designated international date, and our section has only three teams in it.

Choosing to play against Belgium was a whole other level of stupid, but maybe the list of available teams was fairly short.

Shame Scotland couldn't reel in Fergie after he left United for a tournament cycle. He worked wonders with some pretty plain squads near the end.

They're ranked 58th in the world FIFA rankings which from my perspective makes them football gods. Although we still are keeping CuraÁao at bay and making 79th our own*. Belarus, we coming for ya
