Uefa Nations League Page 2

Well I'm glad I remembered to watch this. Shades of Munich except instead of long balls Spain's defense are terrified of young legs running at them.

Seems Southgate realised that the shitty system he played in the World Cup was pretty shit.

Right. Finally sat down for the second half. If there's no goals I'll be fucking cheesed off.

Spain have been absolutely shocking against even a little bit of movement, it's like nobody thought to try it against them before or something.

This is far more interesting than the equivalent friendly would have been. Really competitive.

Spain have been pretty dirty and should have a few more players on a yellow card

Was slightly hoping Ramos would get his goal taken off him. He is such a cunt.

Germany lost again. They are clueless without Ozil.

It means England have a chance to be UEFA Nations league winner as we were in the top tier. Portugal are already though. France or Holland, Switzerland or Belgium will make up the other two spots.

For all the sniffyness about the tournament, it’s clearly been taken seriously by the teams. So for us to win a group with Spain and Croatia is a big deal. Combined with getting to the semis of the World Cup, and with all the young exciting talent in the team (not to mention the major youth tournaments won in recent years) it feels like we’re genuinely back as a force in international football. Which is nice.

Yeah I will definitely be staying up later to watch the game on ITV - staying up to watch an England game are words I never thought I would be saying again pre-Southgate era.

Just read it’s the first time we’ve come back in the last twenty minutes since Cameroon 1990.

Does topping our group mean that we've qualified for Euro 2020 and therefore when the qualifying stages come around we don't need to bother with them?

Do we still have to play the games though?

So if you win your nations league... group (as in you win the final for your group) you are guaranteed a playoff place for the Euro qualifiers? And if you have already qualified that goes to the next ranked team in your group?

Also the Nation's League tables are used to seed teama for the qualifiers. It's the most pointless tournament ever.

What’s the point of any tournament? If the teams take it seriously then it’s competitive and entertaining, which is the only point of any competition.

I think it’s been great. Perhaps a bit over complicated, but like kal says , the fact all the teams are taking it seriously makes it really good to watch, and much more interesting than meaningless friendlies.

Wow, I’m watching Scotland and they’re actually not looking shit. I expect heartbreak and glorious failure of course.
