How would you feel if they charged money to skip cut-scenes? Their game right?

@Rhaegyr I'd feel offended. I mean, skipping cutscenes in a Devil May Cry game? Who does that?

When they decide to do that, then we can debate, but it's a ridiculous argument to entertain because it wont happen.

But that's why people are legitimately annoyed for Capcom for doing this. Adding MTs now means the chance of the game balance being messed up, as many other games have been. It's nice the Devs said it won't be a grind, but Devs have been forced to lie by publishers before.

Just because they didn't change the progression in DMC4SE, does not mean its the same for the new game (changing it in the remaster would of got bad publicity)

@Darth_Flibble But current suggestions are that the game is actually more generous in giving the player red orbs, more so than any other in the series, while abilities are still easily affordable:

    https://www.dualshockers.com/devil-may-cry-5-red-orbs-playing-normally/

This might change, nobody's saying it's set in stone, but it would be weird for Capcom to go the complete opposite route and make it so ridiculous like having to play for 10hrs just to unlock basic moves like Stinger or Round Trip (which would also gain bad publicity for their shiny new 50 game)

If we want to talk bad business practices, then I have more disdain for the Deluxe Edition which actually locks away songs from DMC 1-4, announcers and devil breakers for Nero, including the Mega Man cannon, behind an actual paywall. No suggestion that you can get those through in game red orbs either.

Changing topic slightly, here's gameplay demos of Nero and Dante in action

I've read that you can have as many weapons as you want with Dante, so you can equip only 1 if you wish or up to as many as 5 which sounds for pretty mad combo potential.

If you're someone who's played dmc3se and 4se with turbo mode on, I mean, you can see the gameplay in 5 is pretty slow, right?

I can't be the only one who's put off.

At the NYCC, the devs of DMC5 were there and revealed a few more details on other weapons that will appear in the game. One of which is the Faust Hat, what appears to be a ranged weapon which uses red orbs to attack but finishing enemies actually gives you back more red orbs than what you use

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGz21j3t70A

Certainly doesn't seem like the actions of a company trying to persuade you to spend money on micro transactions if they're just giving red orbs fairly generously. In fact even those complaining about the lack of a special item to generate more red orbs instead of MT's seems silly now because it was always going to be there.

Been a while, but with RE2 coming out tomorrow looking as good as it does, it makes me all the more excited for DMC5 coming in March. Luckily don't have to wait that long as a multi platform demo will be out on Feb 7th. I believe you get to play as Nero and can even buy new abilities. Seems that any orbs you get can also be transferred to the full game as well if you wanted a head start.

Since the last time I posted, there's been another trailer, which shows a little gameplay from the third character V, which looks altogether different from anyone else, using summons to do the dirty work for him

Like the series. I played the last one but have zero idea who those characters are!

Not sure about the camp cowboy hat or the metal soundtrack but gameplay looks fun.

I bought DMC4 Last night. The remaster is like six quid at the moment on psn, so it's probably as good a place as any to jump in.

Yeah I was playing it recently, it still holds up well. At least until the second half where you spend all your time backtracking. Probably sacrilege but I actually think DmC is the one I've enjoyed the most.

Have they said whether this is 60fps on the pauper consoles?

Yeah, that's why I bought it. It's the only one I haven't finished because '...now do all the levels again but as dante' was bad enough but some of them are just *horrible*. But it's an itch I've never been able to scratch, just giving up on it.

But I agree. If DmC isn't the best one, it's certainly up there. The story is good, the level design is decent and the combat is brilliant.

On my OG xbox one it ran at 60fps. The demo that is, well close to 60 as the xbox one is a piece of shit.

By my reckoning, it unlocks everything, gives you a shitload of cash, and you get a costume each for the ladies you'd normally have to pay proper money for - right?

Yeah, it gives you enough orbs and souls to unlock everything bar one ability, all game modes are unlocked, two costumes for the ladies and unlocks the super costumes.

The having abilities unlocked is useful but I don't think I'll bother with the super costumes as that is proper easy mode.

I don't agree I'm afraid. The combat is just not good enough for a DMC game. None of the enemies are memorable, the boss fights aren't great, the weapons are bland and boring and the combat is the worst in the series. Compared to DMC4 the combat looks and feels slow. Stinger looks so slow, Killer Bee literally sees you bounce off enemies, it looks pathetic. Don't even get me started on the try hard edgelord story and characters. Nobody is likeable in this story, Dantes an arrogant foul mouthed idiot, Kat has no agency in the story other that being a magic object and Vergil aborts demon babies with his sniper rifle, portrayed at every part of the story as being weaker than Dante only to be the final boss. It's a joke. Might be a good action game in it's own right but it's not a good Devil May Cry game.

    Nice, was waiting for this.

Nearly done with DMC 4. Im on the last stage of Dante's mission and did remember why I quit last time. It's very captain obvious but the game is really designed around Nero, so the levels at better and he's more fun in combat. The reverse levels for Dante suck and his combat is nowhere near as good as DMC 3. There's too much pushback and the enemies are generally less aggressive, so things like royal guard are pointless.

It's still a good game, though, even if there is generally far too much pissing about in the levels.

Off today so just playing it now. Looks very nice(similar aesthetic to DmC) animation is top notch. Still getting my head around the combat as there seems to be a shit load of variations but it's starting to click. Looking like it's going to be pretty great. Reminds me a lot of DmC though so I imagine a few people are going to be upset.

It had to modernise. I know it's ten years old, but DMC 4 does feel quite archaic compared to even DmC, which feels much more modern.
