The only time I ever won in the the DR1 leagues was in Germany. But with having problems last night, driving flat out in a straight line, canít see that being repeated. Always seemed to do well in Germany, but the DR1 stages I enjoyed the most were definitely in Greece.

This goes back as far as CMR 1, for some reason I do well in Sweden once I get the hang of it.

I really want to like Sweden, but those snow drifts drive me nuts. Itís just so different to the other courses that I guess I need to learn how to drive on there properly.

Iíve noticed thereís a lot of people with Nordic flags at the top of the leaderboards there, which is likely no coincidence.

You can power through most clips with the snow banks. Just keep your foot down and hope for the best.

I don't like the FFB update. It seems to help my opponents

    I just can't do Poland, I'm rubbish.

Old FFB didn't bother me, but I do like the new settings.

If you mean in the career mode the AI times in Poland a way way off.

Yeah I am in career, only in the second championship so the difficulty isn't that high, but I feel like I have to go full pelt and I just can't keep it stable on high speed sections, in addition to normally losing loads of time round stupid barrel chicanes.

I still don't get what's the issue with making halfway realistic AI times. It's not only that they're highly inconsistent, super easy in some locations and insane in others, they also don't care about what cars they're driving, so you'll see Citroen DS, Datsun and Metro on top spots because the "AI" doesn't care. It does its times and a car is randomly assigned to them which has no impact at all.

I really wish it was somehow based on real players' times and I don't understand what's so hard about doing that.

I always used to think the AI times were based on the developers team times. Kind of preferred thinking of it in that way, as beating the top AI time, kind of felt like beating their top guyís effort.

Much prefer the difficulty slider on the F1 series. They seem to have got it spot on there.

The crazy AI times definitely do vary based on location, and to some extent, the class of car youíre driving.

I think I mentioned earlier in the thread when I was driving the H2 RWD Escort in Poland that I was finishing at least 20 odd seconds behind the AI, but then checked the worldwide human leaderboard and discovered the top couple of AI drivers were beating the world record times easily.

This was on Clubman class too!

Before that, like ModoX was saying, I assumed I was just rubbish on those courses.

Also, rain and night time course have no effect on them either.

Yeah speaking of which, it turned out there was no need to worry about Poland anyway since this long nighttime rainy stage just completely fucked me. How am I supposed to drive when I can't see the corners because the raindrops are the size of fucking tree trunks?

But all these things aside, I bloody love this game. Itís basically all Iíve played since it came out. Thereís not many games that last me three months solid, and counting.

I wish I could get back into it properly. I have had a bit of a blast but I need to get my DR mojo back and get into the game properly.

Once we can get a league setup the obsession will really take over.

Yeah, that will probably get me Re-engaged. Trouble is that I am nowhere as good as I was at DR1.

Edit: too much to drink.... /hic

I think what bugs me is that it's just down to the graphical settings. If you watch YouTube videos of rain at night on PC with higher graphics settings it's much clearer and the raindrops aren't massive pixelated slashes completely obstructing your view of the track.

Edit: On a more positive note, sometimes I really love this game...

Hmm I play on max settings and it's such an annoying wall of white lines in front of me that I can hardly see anything. Actually there were issues in DR1 where lowering your graphics settings resulted in better visibility and hence people lowered the settings to get better times. Thanks for the inspiration though, hadn't thought of it but I'll experiment with different settings now to see how much of a difference the right settings may make.

Managing a big jump like that without binning it straight after is a rare occurrence :D

This is the kind of thing I was thinking of regarding the rain, different location but the visibility is much better: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5Z-wk8iPg8

Yeah that is fine but that's pre-release footage and iirc it was like that early on too. After one of the updates it got really bad.

Probably a good idea, my time will get to stand for all time.

    BOW BEFORE MY MAGNIFICENCE.

I'm not taking part in this one though, I don't want to end up memorising every stage turn for turn.....well at least not as quickly as I have ended up doing in every other rally game I've played.

Done 2.55.305 with the metro on that last trial. Still plenty time there as not learned the last sector.

Also I hate that car when braking, it just wants to spin.

Well thatís a good second clear of anyone else here, nice driving.

And yeah I know exactly what you mean about it wanting spin out when you break. Itís a feisty little bugger.
