    OK I've set another championship up, 3 events, 4 stages each, 3 days per event, Group A cars and hardcore damage.

    Everything is available in the base game, no DLC stuff, ideal for anyone who downloaded the game on Gamepass.

    Anyone using a pad, check back through this thread to see my, and Dr Strangelove's settings. The default setup is a bit rubbish, so it's worth having a tinker.

    There's also some wheel setup chat earlier in the thread if you have a browse.

    If you'd like to join the fun, go to EUROGAMERDR2 and request to join.

    Let us know in this thread if you've popped in a request, and somebody will approve it for you.

    I think that's everything.

    Crashed out of 2 rallies today, I shouldn't have turned the game on it seems.

    As this thread has 77 pages and it'll be a pain in the arse to find that, here's what I'm using with PS4 controller if anyone's interested.

    For anyone interested the Season pass is on offer at 10 on steam, the lowest it's been.

    Cheers for that Doc.

    I got off to a brilliant start in the latest EG championship, I got a puncture after three corners on the first stage, another one at the finish line of the second, leaving me with three wheels for the third, which I immediately crashed out of.

    I'm a bit confused with the championship career mode in this, each time I complete a championship, it puts me right into another championship, stuck in the same starting car (Lancia). I don't seem to be able to select different championships with different car categories

    Is there a calendar of events or anything I need to work through?

    Ha, maybe. It's not often I can't work out a menu system in a game. I must be getting old.

    Sure you're talking about championships (several locations) and not events (single location)?

    @DrStrangelove

    I think so, the main square in the career section, it's got six locations comprising 4-6 stages each. Once you've completed each event, it just kicks you to starting race (although the events/stages are reshuffled) in the same car again.

    I'm not sure what the career is supposed to look like. Maybe I'll try uninstalling / reinstalling. For now I'll just work through the historical rallies. Just did the Mini one - so much fun because you can really throw it around.

    The Lancia and Mini have orobably given me a false sense of competence so I'm curious how I'll go in the higher powered vehicles.

    I tried abandoning the championship I was in, then I was disconnected from the racenet server and it said I'd lose all progress. Went back in and started a new championship and let me select one of the other cars I've purchased (R2 Fiesta). I'm competing in the clubman cup, I think. I still don't really understand the career structure progression in this.

    Still loving the game though. Finding it much more manageable than the original - which I found too often verged on frustrating.

    The structure is that a championship consists of a randomised set of events, all driven in the same car. An event is the entirety of what's happening in a single location. After finishing an event, the game should go on to the next one in a different location. After finishing all events the points awarded in each event are summed up and make up the championship results.

    After completing a championship, there's nothing "in progress" anymore in the game menu and you can start a new one again with any other car you own. If you were successful in the previous championship, the next one will be one league/difficulty higher (and longer)--I'm not sure if you have to be 1st to move up or if 3rd is enough.

    But you said you played the Historic Rallies, I think that's exactly the same except for two differences: A) events are predefined, not randomised B) you can use any car, you don't have to have it in your garage.

    So I just did the New England event in Exploding Gekz. Had a pretty terrible series of stages with false starts, going off the track, taking repair penalties etc, until finally going into the final stage I was 7 min 10 sec behind Skullb. As the sector times of the race popped up I could see that I was falling further behind again, until just before the beginning of one of the last sectors there was a blind right and after I did the corner the time popped popped up and I had some how jumped 44 seconds AHEAD! I thought, happy days he must have stacked it on that last corner, I just need to not crash and coast home. But although I didn't crash, I did make a load of mistakes and saw my lead whittled down until finally I lost the stage but only by less than two seconds! Good stuff.

    I'm tempted to get the additional DLC locations/tracks for this - which will be the first DLC I've ever bought. If I do, do more events open up or do they become playable in the career mode, or is mainly for multiplayer / free play?

    Any DLC tracks mix in with the career mode.

    I had season 1 + 2 included with mine so tempted just to grab Greece for 3, I don't play the rallycross enough to care for that part of the game and pick up any cars I am fond of like the 306 so I have 1 in each class.

    Awesome, just need to work out how the career mode works.

    I just unlocked the Historical Rally Group A events and picked the 90s era Impreza. It's really drifty on the New Zealand stages.

    I seem to be doing okay at this, I've turned off all assists and playing against 80% AI and I'm winning most stages be about 5-10 seconds. Which is weird because I often struggled to even complete a stage in the original game. I think spending more time with the 100bhp and 200bhp cars helped a lot.

    @KD

    I'm tempted to pick up the 306 just for nostalgia sake as I used to own one. Although I don't remember my old 205 driving quite like the one in the game

    My car looked like this on one of the stages in the gekz championship. Dash cam were fine though and at the next stage it was back to normal.

    Also did a double barrel roll in wales a few days ago that I'm quite pleased with.

    Hmm, in the Group A class, and I'm consistently losing by 10-15 seconds on each stage even though I feel like I'm driving clean and couldn't go much faster through most corners.

    Is it possible I'm losing too much momentum by getting too sideways in the corners, and losing acceleration/speed out of the corners due to no traction control? My tyres are pretty much fucked after two stages - is that normal?

    Nah traction control will only slow you down. Going sideways definitely slows you down though unfortunately.

    And however fast you're going through the corners, you can go way faster.
