    Made it to the finish but I must have got at least 7 or 8 flat tires in total and drove one night stage without any lights. Pleased that I not did a terminal damage at the log pile though :)

    I can see why most people go less than 540 degrees on the wheel, I'm just switching back to a pad for this game and keep using the wheel for track racing in other games.

    I'll get the league rally done tomorrow, quite like this event with more stages over a longer time.

    I see Dirt Rally 2 super deluxe package is in the PSN sale for 30. Tempting I must say and it includes all DLC

    If it includes S3&S4 content as well as S1&S2, that's a bargain for an amazing game! Go for it, and join our championships! So much win.

    I too avoided the log pile, however I did at least one entire 10 mile night course with no lights, and I got loads of punctures, crossing the line on three wheels more than once.

    All of which meant I finished some 19 minutes behind first place, but I'm happy I managed to finish that marathon, and was even competitive on a few tracks!

    It indeed contains all 4 seasons. I concur, just get it.

    Done. Once its downloaded (all 76GB of it) what do I search for in order to join the EG club? I was in the original club on DR1.

    Best driving game of all time in my opinion, definitely worth jumping in at 30.

    Flat tyre on first stage but doing well enough after 4 stages, that course is intense.

    This was in the latest Humble choice. I'll have a spare PC copy up next weekend (too much DIY shite to do this weekend) when I do the next - and probably final - thread.

    @DrStrangelove

    Thanks for that I've put my request in to join the club. PSN gamer tag FinalNitrous.

    Calibrated the G29 to 900 and ran a few tests with the 2001 Subaru and it felt OK at Finland. Started a championship with a group B rally car and finding it a bit of a handfull on the tight and twisty hawk bay stages. Maybe I should look into that rotation setup a bit.

    Lower you go the easier it is. Lower than 540 makes the car unnaturally responsive and makes you cheating vermin though. See also upping the sensitivity to the max on the pad.

    Group B is quite a handful, especially if you're suicidal and pick the Audi.

    Struggling to know whether I should pick this or the wrc 8 game? Anyone played both? Normally stick to f1 but used to love a rally game when i was younger so fancy dipping my toes back in.

    Sadly only on a controller if that makes a difference

    @damagedinc

    Haven't played WRC but DR works very nicely with controller.

    DR2.0 does seem to work on the pad from the brief attempt I had before switching back to the wheel.

    I'll be getting WRC 8 though. Have a look at the gt planet forum as more users have played both.

    My group B rally car is the Audi... Its nuts but I like it.

    Went out on stage 9, pushing a bit too much with a flat tyre near the end of the stage and went sideways into a tree.

    I crashed a few times in Finland, but managed not to get any punctures... result!

    I've just put another 3 stage championship up.

    32 second penalty on the last stage, I turned off the crowd but still able to run them over I think.

    Well that ended well. 10+ seconds adrift on each stage caused by a silly mistake and then on the final stage I was suddenly 17 or so seconds ahead, got excited and crashed (again) going into the final section taking out the lights and a fence.

    Great fun though.

    Anyone using a pad, check back through this thread to see my, and Dr Strangelove's settings. The default setup is a bit rubbish, so it's worth having a tinker.
    As this thread has 77 pages and it'll be a pain in the arse to find that, here's what I'm using with PS4 controller if anyone's interested.

    @KD

    I'm using a wheel (logitech G29)

    I'm using these settings as a base with 540 steering.
    https://www.codecmoments.com/dirt-rally-2-0-wheel-settings/

    I think my problem is the pace note call outs maybe being to far ahead so I'll have a play about that like I've done on WRC 8.

    Goddammit, went really well until I lost my lights half way into the last stage and then I spun around several times and got a puncture... Really need to take it a little bit slower when I've done a few good stages but then I always feel too confident and make a stupid mistake. Maybe my six people's beer I had tonight didn't help.
  • Deleted user 9 January 2020 08:02:26
    I was exactly 10 seconds behind on the second and third stages, but nosed 2 seconds in front on Nitrous on the last 9 miler. I span it a couple of times but no punctures or going off.

    The VW Polo R5 doesn't have the most power in the class, but it does handle well and it's fun to drive. There are two achievements/trophies to get with it as well.

    @Nitrous The youtuber who's setups I been using just uploaded a video for wheel settings for G29/920, he says they suit his setups so may give the wheel another try. Also his own control pad settings video went up.
