Iíve taken to actually bothering to check what stages are coming up, crazy I know, and, yes, taking it a bit easier prior to a night stage.
Still find the game really dark at times in HDR. The screens switches to its maximum brightness when it detects an HDR TV so that canít be boosted, the in game HDR slider plays with the brightness curve but doesnít boost it in the traditional way I.e. it tries to retain dark areas as you go up, only brightening the peaks. Have resorted to bumping the gamma on the TV itself.

This has become my little half an hour retreat now in lockdown. Itís half stressful but also half meditative if a clear run flows and comes together.
On a pad and with no assists I canít handle much more than 300bhp though. Sweets pot for me seems to be the cool little Golf Gti or the slower 250ish bhp Subaruís. The rear wheel drive stuff just wants to swap ends constantly and it too frustrating, and as for the Porsches...

I know what you mean, I love driving through the country lanes with overcast skies. Occasionally upside down.

Poland and Argentina this week I am blaming for my fucked neck, back on pad in vr handbraking I'm sure has left me unable to turn my head.

Two DNF in a row. I would think that at some point I wouldn't pile it off the 2 right by the bridge with yellow tape but no.

Yeah, I know what bridge you mean, been at the bottom many times... Argentina is brutal.

I think I fell down there 20 times before I learned I should actually take it slow.

Just noticed the replay mode on this. More incentive to finish a dodgy run knowing you can watch the horror back at the end.

Got myself a very square golf after the starter car, which seems to have an upside down speedometer.
I just wish when you picked an old car they dated the outfits of the little by standing fans and stewards. Feel like I'm trashing someone's retro car collection

It is, especially as maintaining speed is so difficult with all the 1 corners.

Also, the most important thing I realised is that when the co-driver says caution one should pretty much always brake. I take his caution so lightly.

I did Scotland on elite during a championship and it seems like the hardest course of all. So many hazards and it seems like it is supposed to be mostly near flat out.

    Yes- thanks.

Though not for the rear wheel drive/snow combo 😁

@mothercruncher In hindsight, it isn't the best combination!

It's all good, I found where the Vauxhall Cavalier (Ascona) was hiding this week.

Best idea ever (apart from having it all heavy rain in Wales). But yeah, thank you for keeping this up!

edit: tbh I think Sweden will be nothing compared to Scotland

Scotland is the mega hard bitch of fuck you as far as courses go. Fast and so many things to hit for those lovely punctures.

Yeah, big thanks for keeping setting up the championships. It's great to drive one in between all the smashing of skulls in Yakuza and the debt management in animal crossing that has filled my days for the last month or so.

Well, two DNFs for me so far. How do you play this game again?

I'm glad everyone is still enjoying the championships, I'll keep putting them up as long as people still want to do them!

Suggestions for car class and tracks are welcome, especially if you think I'm neglecting anything.

I think I speak on behalf of everyone when I say we want all RWD and all heavy rain.

Current event, lost internet connection during the first stage so the game decided that was a DNF/15 minutes. Grmbl.

Also I just don't get R5 and how to drive them effectively.

Only if full damage is on clearly.

Anyway this racing has been great and again thanks for keeping it going with interesting choices and now I'm exploring cars I never would have driven in the game.

Last two rallies I've mainly been going on three wheels, I reckon 75% of the stages have been with at least one flat tire (should've driven a CitroŽn DS!). Managed to not get a puncture in greece but I think I forgot to change tires at the service stop instead... Last stage was very much using all of the road and a little bit more (got a total of 20s penalty by going too far off I think). Still feel like a newbie sometimes when playing this game. In a good way.

I'm all for a difficult RWD rally next time.

Iíd just like to stop driving off a cliff and fruitlessly trying to turn around while wedges into something because for some inexplicable reason it wonít let me reset the pissing car.

@mothercruncher What works for me is stopping the car then a little flick of the throttle seems to bring up the reset icon quicker.

My Greece experience involved the odd hurtling test of gravity while spinning end over end but I still got a reasonable time. There are some nasty traps in Greece but it looks lovely and I love the hairpin section, it is always fun.
